As soon as you see this playground nestled amongst a huge grassed area you are drawn to the array of bright colours of the play equipment. Nestled in the suburb of North Plympton this playground is fully fenced and features lots of climbing and balancing pieces for the kids. Monkeys bars, climbing poles, stepping stones to a spider web that stands alone.
Suitable for 2 – 6 year olds, this playground also has a swing set ( including baby swing) slippery dip, and a bouncy animal piece of equipment the little ones all love. Whilst there is no shade cloth over the equipment this park is surrounded by lots of lovely trees that will continue to grow and provide shade for the play area .
Find it at: Corner of Adelphi Terrace and Mac Farlane St Glenelg North This park sits directly opposite the Patawalonga and has a small playground along with lots of grassed area. It is a great playground/park to utilise if you want to head down for a walk or bike round around the Patawalonga or if heading to Glenelg North Beach. The playground has a slippery dip, swing set including baby swing, a few toddler bouncy animals along with a couple of climbing wall features. Beside the playground is sits a small bike track for beginners. There is a picnic table but unfortunately this area has no BBQ facilities, toilets or shade at ALL on the reserve. You will find BBQ facilities on the other side of the road along the Patawalonga. The park is half fenced off along the main road closest to the playground but not on the side streets. Lots of parking around the park and if in need of a coffee there is a new coffee shop called Coffee Time a 5 min walk up to Tapleys Hill Road . There are also plenty of swings, see-saws, climbing frames and sand play equipment including the popular diggers in the huge sandpit. Much of the playground's fun is best suited to younger kids aged 1-5 years, however older kids will also enjoy the larger climbing frames, rope bridge and forts. Most of the equipment has softfall rubber matting or barkchips to break any falls. There is a range of equipment that isn't common elsewhere with Heaps of things to climb on, slide down, walk across and more. One of the best fenced playgrounds near the CBD, Helicopter Park has shaded, grassy picnic spots, drink fountain, toilets and BBQ facilities. Keep in mind that most of the play equipment is not shaded. There are also horses agisted in the nearby parklands which the kids love - take care though as patting and feeding is not recommended.
