Sunset’s brand- new playground, Sea Turtle Park officially opened early 2026.

The highlight of the playground is an enormous sea turtle structure that immediately captures children’s attention. This large feature invites kids to climb, crawl and slide while pretending they are exploring a giant marine creature. Surrounding the turtle are a variety of play elements including climbing ropes, slides, swings and spinning equipment, giving children of different ages plenty of ways to play.

The park has also been designed with active families in mind. A half-court allows kids and teenagers to shoot hoops or play casual games of basketball or netball, while the open grassed areas are ideal for kicking a football, playing tag or simply running around. These spaces make it easy for siblings of different ages to find something they enjoy.

Parents and carers will appreciate the thoughtful amenities throughout the park. Sheltered picnic tables and seating areas provide a comfortable place to relax while children play. Electric BBQ facilities make it easy to turn a visit into a family lunch or weekend gathering, and wide pathways help make the park accessible for prams, scooters and bikes.

Another great aspect of Sea Turtle Park is the amount of open green space. Families can spread out picnic blankets, enjoy casual games or simply relax in the fresh coastal air. Its location close to the coast adds to the relaxed atmosphere and makes it a pleasant place to spend time outdoors.

Developed for the local community by Land Australia, part of the Hickinbotham Group, Sea Turtle Park, Sunset features an interactive sea turtle play structure featuring a slide, carousel, basketball court, BBQ picnic area with shelter and seating areas.

Golding Oval Reserve BMX Pump Track /golding-oval-reserve-bmx-pump-track/ /golding-oval-reserve-bmx-pump-track/#respond Mon, 05 Jan 2026 11:57:48 +0000 /?p=208227 Find it at: Pitana Avenue, Para Vista

Golding Oval Reserve BMX Pump Track is one of four new tracks developed and built in 2025/2026 by the City of Salisbury Council. This track officially opened in December of 2025 and our 5 year old and 8 year old KiA kids were excited to check it out as soon as they could. This asphalt track includes humps and berms creating a loop suitable for all ages and experiences. My 5 year old was confident attempting this track so I would ultimately recommend this track would be suitable for children ages 4 and above. Perfect for balance bikes, bikes, BMX;s and scooters. We had an absolute ball and stayed longer than we had actually anticipated. There is one sheltered picnic table for parents to sit and supervise however there is no shade at all on the track itself.

But wait…. there’s more! Golding Oval Reserve is also home to the Ingle Farm little Athletics club so the oval features runnings tracks, jumping and competition courses. There is also a mock roadway ( a little outdated at the moment and needs a freshen up of paint) but our kids still absolutely loved it. Complete with little roadways, round-a-bouts and parking spots. And don’t forget the playground, which is shaded (yay) and consists of swings, slides, money bars and tunnels.

And just when you thought this place had it all…. it also has a fully fenced dog park located on the corner of the reserve. It literally caters for all members of the family (even our four legged friends). Unfortunately, the only thing missing that we would have loved to have seen is toilets.

GroupTogether: The easy way 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ families are thanking Teachers this year /group-together/ /group-together/#respond Sat, 08 Nov 2025 06:12:28 +0000 /?p=202234 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ parents have discovered and are organising ah-mazing end-of-year teacher gifts without the usual headache. One link, one card that parents sign online and one class gift collection. No chasing, no wrapping, no stress – just a thoughtful way to say “thank you” that teachers genuinely love.

If you’re an 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ parent, you know how Term 4 goes. One minute you’re cheering at the swimming carnival, the next you’re juggling class concerts, beach days down at Glenelg and the annual “wait, what date is it again?” chaos. And just when you think you’re on top of it all, someone mentions teacher gifts.

We all want to say thank you properly. Teachers really are the MVPs of the school year – patient, kind and somehow still smiling through the sugar highs and friendship dramas. But trying to organise a teacher gift that’s actually meaningful? It’s a lot.

That’s why two Aussie mums, Ali and Julie, created GroupTogether. It takes the hassle out of organising one teacher gift from the whole class. One parent starts a collection, shares a link, and everyone can chip in and sign the card online. The teacher receives a beautiful card filled with messages and photos from the class. Parents can choose to withdraw the funds or pick from GroupTogether’s range of gifts and eGift Cards. Most people give the GroupTogether AnyCard which lets the teacher choose from 100+ Aussie favourites like Myer, David Jones, Woolies, JB HiFi, endota spa, Airbnb & more.

It keeps things simple and inclusive. No chasing parents to sign the card, and because contributions are anonymous from the rest of the group, there’s no awkwardness about who’s given what. You can even add a charity donation if your class wants to give back while saying thanks.

Plenty of 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ families now use it for teacher and coach gifts. It’s one of those clever little ideas that actually makes life easier, but still feels personal and heartfelt.

So before the end-of-year rush takes over, head over to GroupTogether and get your class organised. Your last-week-of-school self (and your teacher) will thank you.

Activ8 Mind support SA families to thrive /activ8-mind-south-australia/ /activ8-mind-south-australia/#respond Sat, 08 Nov 2025 05:44:18 +0000 /?p=202348 Support for everyday challenges- not just the big stuff

Many parents only begin to consider therapy or counselling when their child is facing significant, ongoing difficulties like anxiety, depression or trauma. While they are here for those moments, Activ8 Mind also believes in the value of early, everyday support. Psychology and counselling can help with common challenges such as school refusal, exam stress, friendship issues, bullying, or building self-esteem. Our approach is practical and goal-oriented, helping kids and teens develop social skills, emotional regulation and resilience so they can tackle life’s ups and downs with confidence. Therapy isn’t just for crises; it’s a valuable tool for everyday wellbeing and growth.Ā

Navigating School Transitions with ConfidenceĀ

understand that every stage of school brings new challenges and opportunities for growth. Their team supports children and young people aged 5 to 18 as they move through key transitions, whether it’s starting primary school, adjusting to high school or preparing for life after Year 12. These changes can be exciting, but they can also bring uncertainty, stress or self-doubt. Active8 Mind psychologists and counsellors work with families to help children build the skills they need to adapt, thrive, and feel confident at every step.Ā

Evidence-Based, Outcome-Oriented Care for All Ages

Activ8 Mind offers psychology and counselling services for children (5+), adolescents, and adults (18+). They use evidence-based strategies to help you and your children or young adults to address mental health concerns and build resilience. They also provide a range of assessments for ages 6+, including cognitive and ADHD assessments.Ā Ā

Supporting Parents Too

Activ8 Mind know that parenting can be tough, especially when you’re supporting a child through change or challenge. That’s why Activ8 Mind also offers individual support for adults, including help with parenting concerns, stress, relationship issues, and parental burnout. Our psychologists provide one-on-one sessions (we don’t offer couples counselling) to help adults navigate their own wellbeing while supporting their children. We believe that when parents are supported, the whole family benefits. Our outcome-focused approach means we work with you to set goals and develop strategies that fit your unique situation.Ā

How can we pay for services? Can we afford it?

If your child is struggling with behaviour, emotional regulation, or transitions, or if you’re seeking support for yourself, our services can be accessed through Medicare (with a relevant referral), private health insurance, or the NDIS for eligible families.Ā Ā

Activ8 Mind are there to help you and your kids grow, build resilience, and work through your concerns, no matter where you or they are in life’s journey.Ā

If your kids love slides, skate parks or shooting hoops……this is going to be their new favourite playground. We’re talking big slides, small slides, straight slides and one great big epic curly slide that is going to be VERY busy this weekend!

Roy Marten Park, Taperoo

The equipment is quite spread out and has been zoned for ages . You will find the toddler / little kids area under shade. It has been separated either side of the big red tower and features a pirate ship themed play equipment area featuring  slippery dip, a small climbing net, bouncy animals and lots lots more. Over in this area you will also see a swing swing set (inc baby swing ) along with a dual swing for babies and carers to use together.

Semaphore South Foreshore Playground

With plenty of equipment to satisfy even the most avid climbers, but also catering for the real young ones (and its fully fenced!), this is a fantastic alternative to the busy main foreshore precinct. Shaded, fully fenced and with a toilet, this is the perfect summer playground in our opinion!

The Square, West Beach

Set on the unique coastal precinct of West Beach Parks, it also includes a kiosk (Oceanique Kiosk), shelter, BBQ, shade, toilets and other amenities. It has a great little selection of swings and some inground trampolines that have just the right amount of spring in them and ample opportunity to run, balance and play, just meters from the beach.

Largs Bay Foreshore Playground

The Largs Bay foreshore play space redevelopment in 2024 brought to life an amazing concept which feels like came straight from the imagination of us as kids! This one is a very popular site with local and visiting families and the ice cream themed playground is sure to make it even more popular.

Wigley Reserve Playground, Glenelg

This playground is a sensational multi function playspace which will satisfy the climbers, the nature lovers, the jumpers, the exercising types and those who love a good swing. The highlight has to be the huge climbing structure which lets kids of all ages (thanks to really well designed safety netting) climb up nice and high and check out the incredible view of all the fancy expensive boats in the marina. They can either climb over the other side or slide down the huge twisty tube slide! Such fun!

Collins Reserve, Kidman Park

The second play equipment area located on the other side of the reserve is more suitable for the toddlers and kindy kids. This area has been added on and has the wooden look with a splash of colour amongst it. Featuring 2 slippery dips, swing set including baby swing , some climbing equipment including a rope net , small tunnel, games and my favourite the big green car. This area is mostly sheltered and is close to the tennis courts.
