Semaphore Foreshore is set for an exciting transformation, with plans underway for a world-class redevelopment that will enhance one of 91¹û¶³´«Ã½’s favourite beachside destinations while preserving the heritage charm locals know and love.

The revitalised foreshore will continue to celebrate its iconic attractions, including the historic monument, the much-loved carousel, the jetty, train hub, expansive grassy picnic areas and the vibrant calendar of community events that have made Semaphore a family favourite for generations.

But it’s the new family-focused features that have us most excited.

Plans include a brand-new destination playground designed to encourage climbing, exploring and imaginative play, alongside an interactive water play area perfect for cooling off on warm summer days. A new multi-use court will provide space for a variety of ball sports and active play, while a modern skate park will give older kids and teens a dedicated place to ride, practise tricks and hang out with friends.

Accessibility is at the heart of the redevelopment, with improved pathways, upgraded amenities and inclusive spaces designed so people of all ages and abilities can enjoy everything the foreshore has to offer. Whether you’re visiting with a pram, wheelchair, scooter or bike, the new layout aims to make exploring the foreshore easier and more enjoyable for everyone.

The redevelopment is all about creating a destination where families can spend an entire day. Picture the kids climbing through an incredible new playground, splashing in the water play, shooting hoops or kicking a ball on the multi-court, older siblings mastering new tricks at the skate park, then everyone meeting for fish and chips on the lawns before a stroll along the jetty or a ride on the historic carousel.

Semaphore has always been one of 91¹û¶³´«Ã½’s most loved family beach destinations, and this redevelopment promises to make it even better—blending exciting new attractions with the timeless seaside charm that keeps families coming back year after year.

Works are due to commence February 2027 and will include

While it might be the smaller of Riverlea’s two playgrounds, Milner Place Reserve proves that good things really do come in small packages. Perfect for a quick play stop or an afternoon burn-off, this neighbourhood playground ticks all the essential boxes without feeling overcrowded.

The play space features a great mix of equipment for younger and primary school-aged kids, including swings, slides, climbing and balancing elements that encourage active play and help build confidence. The layout is open and easy to supervise, making it a great option for families with children of different ages.

One of the standout additions is the half basketball court, giving older kids (and competitive parents!) another reason to stick around after they’ve finished exploring the playground.

Sunset’s brand- new playground, Sea Turtle Park officially opened early 2026.

The highlight of the playground is an enormous sea turtle structure that immediately captures children’s attention. This large feature invites kids to climb, crawl and slide while pretending they are exploring a giant marine creature. Surrounding the turtle are a variety of play elements including climbing ropes, slides, swings and spinning equipment, giving children of different ages plenty of ways to play.

The park has also been designed with active families in mind. A half-court allows kids and teenagers to shoot hoops or play casual games of basketball or netball, while the open grassed areas are ideal for kicking a football, playing tag or simply running around. These spaces make it easy for siblings of different ages to find something they enjoy.

Parents and carers will appreciate the thoughtful amenities throughout the park. Sheltered picnic tables and seating areas provide a comfortable place to relax while children play. Electric BBQ facilities make it easy to turn a visit into a family lunch or weekend gathering, and wide pathways help make the park accessible for prams, scooters and bikes.

Developed for the local community by Land Australia, part of the Hickinbotham Group, Sea Turtle Park, Sunset features an interactive sea turtle play structure featuring a slide, carousel, basketball court, BBQ picnic area with shelter and seating areas.

If your kids love tractors, open spaces and country-style play, the brand new Harvest Green Park Playground in Roseworthy is one to add to your list! Completed in early 2026, this charming playground has been developed for the local community by Land Australia, part of the Hickinbotham Group, and it’s already making a big impression.

The playground features a cute rural and country theme, perfectly suited to its surroundings, with plenty of space for kids to run, climb and explore.

Play highlights include:

• A dual flying fox for double the fun
• Climbing equipment and a play tunnel
• Slippery dips
• A basketball court and kick-about space for active kids
• A super cute tractor playground with slide and more!

There are shelters, seating, and large grassy areas making it easy to stay and play a little longer. The park also includes bike racks, trees and soft plantings, and toilet facilities, making it a comfortable spot for families of all ages.

If you’re looking for a fresh, fun playground near 91¹û¶³´«Ã½ with a relaxed country feel, Harvest Green Park Playground is well worth the drive.

Golding Oval Reserve BMX Pump Track is one of four new tracks developed and built in 2025/2026 by the City of Salisbury Council. This track officially opened in December of 2025 and our 5 year old and 8 year old KiA kids were excited to check it out as soon as they could. This asphalt track includes humps and berms creating a loop suitable for all ages and experiences. My 5 year old was confident attempting this track so I would ultimately recommend this track would be suitable for children ages 4 and above. Perfect for balance bikes, bikes, BMX;s and scooters. We had an absolute ball and stayed longer than we had actually anticipated. There is one sheltered picnic table for parents to sit and supervise however there is no shade at all on the track itself.

But wait…. there’s more! Golding Oval Reserve is also home to the Ingle Farm little Athletics club so the oval features runnings tracks, jumping and competition courses. There is also a mock roadway ( a little outdated at the moment and needs a freshen up of paint) but our kids still absolutely loved it. Complete with little roadways, round-a-bouts and parking spots. And don’t forget the playground, which is shaded (yay) and consists of swings, slides, money bars and tunnels.

And just when you thought this place had it all…. it also has a fully fenced dog park located on the corner of the reserve. It literally caters for all members of the family (even our four legged friends). Unfortunately, the only thing missing that we would have loved to have seen is toilets.

This sweet story invites parents to revisit their childhood memories of Christmas traditions, while children can delight in the simple yet beautifully crafted narrative that captures the excitement leading up to Christmas Day.

This brand new Road Safety Park has been completed in early 2026. Located next to Salisbury Aquatic Centre, this Road Safety Park has been designed by The Salisbury Council to simulate real-world conditions for children learning to ride a bike or scooter. Fully fenced, free and opened to the public 7 days a week you will find:

• An asphalt circuit with road crossings, pedestrian and train crossings.
• Active traffic signals and lights
• traffic signs
• line markings and a parking area for your bikes

This is such a fabulous place for your children to learn road safety skills in a safe, fully fenced area where parents can actually enjoy a catch up while the children have fun and burn some energy.
