Nestled along 91¹û¶³´«Ã½â€™s picturesque southern coastline, the Witton Bluff Base Trail is now fully open, offering families an inviting and accessible coastal adventure between Christies Beach and Port Noarlunga.
What Makes It Family-Friendly?
Safe and inclusive access: A smooth, sealed pathway, 3 metres wide, designed for shared use by walkers, prams, wheelchairs, and cyclists.
Gentle terrain, easy pace: The entire 1.1 km trail takes about 30–45 minutes one way, ideal for families managing strollers or little legs.
Perfectly poised for multi-generational outings: Whether pushing toddlers or strolling with grandparents, this trail is crafted for everyone to enjoy.
Scenic and Safe
Breathtaking coastal views: Dramatic limestone cliffs, serene ocean panoramas, and gentle sea breezes make every step a sight to enjoy.
Climate-ready infrastructure: The bluff’s reinforced seawall—built with over 20,000 tonnes of rock—helps protect the trail and nearby coast from erosion and rising seas.
Evening charm with safety: Solar-powered lights illuminate the path after dark, adding both ambiance and practical visibility.
A Rich Cultural Journey
Artfully meaningful: Along the trail, you’ll encounter Tjilbruke Dreaming Track Message Sticks, created by Kaurna Elder Karl Winda Telfer. These artworks acknowledge the sacred songline of the local Kaurna people.
Find it at: Esplanade, Port Noarlunga How about this stunning playground location! Located at the top of the Esplanade cliff between Port Noarlunga and Christies Beach (Right next door to the Port Noarlunga RSL - Free 8 ball and video games by the way), this great little playground is a fantastic way to let the kids burn off some beach energy while you enjoy the breathtaking views. With lots of space, some modern equipment to climb on with enough to keep the little kids and bigger kids entertained (oh and some fitness equipment if you get the urge...must say I never have!), it is a fave with the locals this one. Lots of parking both on the street and in car parks, with toilets available at the RSL too. There is a BBQ and shelter and enough grassed area to bring a footy for a kick (to be honest this is kite country. Bring one!)
Find it at: Saltfleet Street, Port Noarlunga South Jubilee Playground is one of the biggest and best playgrounds in the 91¹û¶³´«Ã½ area. It's an oldie but a goodie and most of the awesome play equipment that forms a castle is made out of wood which makes it even cooler! With HEAPS of things to keep kids from toddler to high school amused and has different sections for different abilities, it is easy to see why this is a local favourite. We Love: The huge wooden castle and surrounds that provides heaps of places for kids to run, hide and have fun, Smaller kids "Tot Lot" section fenced off, Musical bells, Swings including a cool adult/child seated swing (see pic above), Climbing frames including rock climbing wall and modern climbing frames, Ship, rocket, fire pole, lighthouse and other cool structures, Tunnels, balance boards and numerous slides, Wheelchair accessible (although some areas have bark chips), New modern section of playground includes water play and a giant giraffe! BBQs, Toilets 250m away including disabled access, Lots of green space available for ball games, picnics, flying kites etc, Fencing around a lot of the equipment, Heaps of seating, benches and tables - some with shelter. Shelly's Kiosk is a light, bright and vibrant beachside 'must-visit' for 91¹û¶³´«Ã½ families seeking a quality bite to eat with a side of beach adventure. With a very deliberate focus on feeding kids well (hello Toddler Tapas Menu), the beautifully restored venue has held on to glimpses of 'Noonies' from days gone by. You can now enjoy the hospitality here seven days a week from 7am right through to an evening meal or sunset cocktail, and the kids are going to LOVE it. We are so thrilled to see what was always an iconic part of the Semaphore community redeveloped and reopen in 2025 and still going strong today! The magnificent upgraded Semaphore South playground and iconic Semaphore Steam Train (which runs on every Sunday + public holidays in October to April + daily in school holidays October to April except Tuesdays and Thursdays) are smack bang on the doorstep too. This place really does have it all going on. This charming kiosk serves as the perfect pit stop for both kids and parents. With the sound of waves lapping nearby and the smell of fresh sea air and coffee, it’s a great place to kick off your day with…
