This is another great example of mixing nature based play elements (water play, rocks and balancing logs) with playground favourites (slides, swings, flying fox)

There’s wooden structures to climb, ropes to balance on, water to splash in, sand to build in. The natural elements are really inviting and the kids were having a ball.

There’s a good mix of toddler and older kids equipment with a small and big slide, separate toddler play area with sand pit, swings and flying fox for the big ones. There’s also some work out equipment if you fancy burning a few calories while the kids play.
The space itself is big open and grassy with lots of room to kick a ball, run around or have a picnic. (not a lot of shade though unfortunately) There’s bike tracks and tennis courts and stage 2 of the upgrade includes upgrading the existing soccer and baseball facilities.
Weigall Oval is located in the southern part of the City of West Torrens, in the suburb of Plympton. The entrance to the complex is on Urrbrae Terrace and the site is not far from the intersection of Anzac Highway and Marion Road

  • Find it at: Milton Ave, Plympton Park Plympton Oval playground that was upgraded in 2015. The playground is fairly small but has equipment that kids ranging from toddlers up to primary kids will enjoy. Smaller kids and toddlers will like the junior climbing structure, slide and swings while the older kids, especially climbers will love the tricky monkey bars, spinning bars and climbing nets. Or if your kids are up for the challenge, can they get to the top of the shade sale pole like Finn did? There are some big logs surrounding the equipment that are fun for balancing on. The playground is located within the oval grounds and although the playground on it's own isn't fully fenced, the oval as a whole is so you don't have to worry about kids escaping onto the road. It's a great place for a big run around, kick the footy or play some cricket in the nets. There are shade sails over the equipment, accessible pathways and picnic table and seating. • Find it at: Trimmy Terrace, Unley The City of Unley consulted with the "playground experts" to help them upgrade the Unley Oval playground. During community consultation with local residents, the City of Unley specifically sought suggestions from children in the area about what they would like to see incorporated into the improved playground, atop the northern mound at Unley Oval, known as the ‘Hilltop Playground’. 93 children from local schools and kindergartens offered their suggestions with most popular ideas including an aeroplane, haunted house, castle, pirate ship, nature play and incorporating animal designs such as elephants, spiders, cats and unicorns. (YES! playgrounds DEFINITELY need more unicorns we say!) The kids love the new multi-story structure with giant 3m tube slide, a toddler slide, climbing wall and a bird's eye view across the whole oval. There is also a great 'balanced swing/see-saw' that both kids and adults can enjoy at the same time.
