Best “Themed” Playgrounds in 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ /best-themed-playgrounds-in-adelaide/ /best-themed-playgrounds-in-adelaide/#respond Sun, 15 Mar 2026 11:03:50 +0000 /?p=55289 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ is home to some amazing playgrounds, but sometimes, your kids may have a really intense love for a very specific theme. Most kids do at some point, whether it be dinosaurs, pirates, trains or just wanting to run around and get so damn dirty that you think you may get arrested for stealing sand. Whatever your kid is into, we have scoured the archives and compiled a list of some of 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½’s Best Themed Playgrounds for you to explore.

We have them all below, but here are some of our Top Themed Playgrounds;

Scroll down for all the pics and info you will need to tackle your next adventure.

Animal Themed Playgrounds

Thorndon Reserve, Paradise

Australia’s Best Playground as voted in 2023, the incredible bird themed playground has some of the most unique and wonderful equipment in South Australia. The kids will love climbing through the huge structures and this is one of those play spaces where you can easily spend the day.

Read all about this great spot here!

Cormorant Drive Reserve, Hallett Cove

A giant Diprotodon (pre-historic wombat) is the star attraction at this playground down south, a nod to fossils of the extinct giant that was found in the area. Great fun to learn about and even better fun to climb.

Read all about it here!

Sturt Reserve, Murray Bridge

Home to the world (well….SA at least) famous Bunyip, this attraction at Sturt River Reserve has scared kids for generations and delighted parents equally as much. The Bunyip is currently in really good condition and is primed to scare the shite out of anyone under the age of 10 and quite a few older than that. An all round ripper of a playground which is fully fenced, fully shaded and absolutely enormous. Don’t forget the pump tracks, rage cages (its a sport thing…not where you leave angry kids) and a fantastic skate park.

Read more about it here

Sea Turtle Park Playground, Port Noarlunga South

Turtle Park Playground is the latest in Hickinbotham and Land SA’s housing developments vision to create playgrounds as the hub of these new communities. This one is suited for the younger kids under 6.

Read more about it here

Keith Stephenson Reserve, Mount Barker

A wonderfully updated playground (in 2024) which focusses on the local wildlife, this fully fenced playground is great for the under 10s and is highlighted by a giant climbable turtle.

Check it out here!

Stanley Street Reserve, Glengowie

This bee themed playground down south is up there for the cutest playground in 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½. Let your little ones explore and learn all about the world of bees, while having some fun on the unbee-lievable equipment.

Check it out here!

Greenslade Playground, Paradise

A lovely little playground in the north east, home to what I wrongly identified as a Dinosaur on facebook a while back (thankfully the internet politely advised me of the error of my ways), this dragon themed spot is a fave with the locals and has some fab equipment to boot. Check it out here!

Boat Playgrounds

St Kilda Adventure Playground

One of 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ā€™s playground icons, the adventure playground is also home to the famous pirate ship which 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ kids have enjoyed for what seems like forever. Every kid has at some point, stood on that ship and looked out to sea and imagined they were sailing the seven seas looking for treasure. The playground itself is probably 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ā€™s biggest and maybe most famous. A bit of a trek out north but totally worth it and a rite of passage (along with schoolies and doing something stupid to end up on Sh*t91¹ū¶³“«Ć½) for all South Aussies.

For more on this fantastic spot click here

Mary Ann Reserve Playground, Mannum

Located on the beautiful riverbanks of Mannum lies this fully fenced playground. Not only does this playground have a boat for your little ones to play on, you are right at the heart of the river bank where house boats dock and boats are at full force during the summer months. Our little ones even loved watching the ferry cross the river while they were playing. With toilets close by and a shade sail, this is the perfect playground to add to your road trip list.

For more on this fantastic spot click here

AA Bailey Reserve, Clarence Gardens

We love this huge plagryound at Clarence Gardens, which has so much to offer kids of all ages, least of all the pirate loving tikes who will gain their sea legs on the really cool pirate ship. The pirate ship here may be a bit smaller, but the playground is an absolute fave. It is basically 2 big playgrounds in one, with nature play, toddler age equipment plus climbing equipment that caters to the older kids

more info here

Jubilee Adventure Playground, Port Noarlunga

One of the biggest and best playgrounds in the deep south, the ā€˜wooden’ playground at Porties includes a huge wooden fort inspired throughout with boating themes, to give you the impression of being on a massive wooden boat. The kids will love running around and being fully fenced (the fort part….the other nature section isn’t sadly) you can let the kids run around knowing they (probably) can’t get out.

More pics and info here

Moana Seaside Park

A brand new addition to the pirate playground landscape, opening in June 2020 is this ripper of a playground way down south at Moana! The highlight of this playground is the brightly coloured pirate ship with added escape slide for those who don’t want to walk the plank. A very popular new addition for the locals, we loved our recent visit!

Read more here

Angus Neil Reserve, Seacliff

Beaches = Pirates. So it makes sense that one of the best beachside playgrounds along our southern coast has a sweet little nature inspired pirate ship. This is a ripper playground and one of the best party playgrounds going around too, so if you want to book a party for your pirate loving tykes, give this a look.

More info here

Bandon Reserve Marino

With some spectacular views along our southern coast, Bandon Reserve landed a nautical makeover in 2021, which makes for a picture perfect pit stop as you head down for a day at the beach. With great climbing equipment and of course a boat to explore, this is a ripper.

Train Themed Playgrounds

GT Fisher Playground, Victor Harbor

The OG train playground, with the huge steam train being parked in this playground as long as I can remember (lets just say 30 odd years). Now massively renovated to include one of the best nature playgrounds in the state, the train remains (slightly modified for safety compared to years gone by) for kids to climb all over and imagine being an engineer!

Tolley Reserve Playground, Nuriootpa

Tolley Reserve, or Nuriootpa Train Playground is a large open space for kids of all ages and abilities. It makes the perfect stop on a day out at the Barossa Valley so that the kids can play and run off some energy! The full size old train has been there for years and is an icon in the area.

Victoria Square, Kadina

Including a huge fully fenced (and shaded) playground for the younger crew, as well as a very high treetop climbing set up (it is really high!), add to that the Apex Express, a huge train full of space for the kids to climb on the explore.

Barossa Adventure Station

Another brand new playground is this belter up at Angaston, which draws on the old train station land where it was developed. Kids can slide down the huge tube slide from the tower into the train carriage themed area down on the lower level. Great fun! So much more to do, including bike tracks and a skate park. One of our fave day trip playground destinations which will take you through the stunning 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ Hills.

Crozier Reserve Daw Park

We love a hidden gem and for the little train lovers down south, this one at Daw Park is a fully fenced beauty. Light on equipment but big on peace and serenity, this ideal toddler playground includes a small train which is perfect for imagination play.

Kapunda Lions Park Playground

What a gem of a regional playground this one is! Fully fenced and spacious, with plenty of natural and artificial shade, plus one of the best trains (full sized we might add) we have seen in quite some time. Leo is an old steam engine from the copper mining days of the town, and your train loving kids will be all over this one.

Naracoorte Caves Fossil Hunters Playground

The Naracoorte Caves are a world famous natural wonder right here on our doorstep, but did you know they also have a (probably) world famous nature playground as well? We visited last year and it is just sensational. Fossil themed naturally, kids will love exploring and digging their way around this sensational facility. On your trip to the caves, allow time to explore this spot.

St Kilda Adventure Park

An Adelaie icon for what feels like generations, St Kilda Adventure Playground has had a few upgrades over the years and is still a fabulous spot for a day out with the family. Plenty of space, all the facilities you would want and some incredible play equipment.

Read more on this 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ fave here.

Mitcham Reserve

This has always been a rather spectacular spot due to the beautiful scenery, nearby creeks (and awesome coffee shops around Mitcham), but after a massive redevelopment in about 2018, it is even more special now. Constructed using beautiful wooden materials of different shapes and sizes, the kids will feel like they have been transported to some sort of medieval kingdom with the highlight being the huge tower and tube slide (we know, not many tube slides in ye olde times but a bit of poetic licence here). This is the perfect playground picnic spot too, with so much grass and shade from the trees.

Just love this one and you can find out more here!

Marshmallow Park

If you have a kid that has gone on any excursion to the city with kindy in the past few years, chances are they ate lunch here so the teachers could rest. A fully fenced sandpit with lots of water and play equipment, pack extra clothes for this one. Located on Glen Osmond Road in the city, it really is a fantastic playground and one of our faves for the little kids, with some great natural elements to climb on and interact with, plus some really cool standard playground equipment. If your kid loves to get messy, this is the park for them.

Largs Foreshore

More info and pics here.

Jervois Street Reserve

One of the best playgrounds in 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½, is this ripper at South Plympton. It is fully fenced to lock in those scallywag tearaway little kids, it has an older kids playground with flying fox and other climbing/sporting stuff to do, but it is the nature play which brings us here today. With fantastic wood and stone pieces to climb on, plus every parents favourite playground feature….sand and water play, the little ones will have a blast. So much more to do that hasn’t been listed here.

read more on our review here

Belair Adventure Playground

This is THE quintessential nature playground in 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½. Located in Belair National Park (so obviously a bucketload of nature everywhere you look), it is a bit more dated compared to the others listed but some things get better with age…..not saying this has gotten better with age unfortunately (it hasn’t really changed since I first went 30 odd years ago), but it is still a sensational spot. Apart from the playground you get to experience all that the national park has to offer, which is always a perfect family day out (or weekend if you want to camp). The playground has all the classic features you remember from school excursions in the 80s, the huge wooden fort, the cement tunnel network to hide in….bliss. For some reason this playground always reminds me of giant arrowroot bush biscuits, which I think was the school snack of choice for excursions a long, long time ago.

Anyway, more info and pics here!

Where To Play Mini Golf in 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ /where-to-play-mini-golf-in-adelaide/ /where-to-play-mini-golf-in-adelaide/#respond Mon, 12 Jan 2026 10:50:25 +0000 /?p=60360 Ahhh mini golf, miniature golf, putt-putt, mini putt, ‘the place where dad gets angry and over-competitive’. Known by many names and enjoyed by all (except parents of 6 year olds who think they are playing hockey and belts balls at a million miles an hour all over the place), this shrunken down version of golf is renowned the world over as the ideal place for families to set aside their differences and to come together in joyful and friendly competition for an hour or so. That is obviously a total lie, with this in fact being the area in which the competitive beasts within most kids is awoken, with the slightest ‘bending’ of the rules usually being loudly called out, resulting in threats of ‘behave or there will be no mcflurry on the way home’.

All that friendly family banter aside, we love us some mini golf. From the whacky course designs to fact all ages can have a go, there is so much to love about this as an ideal family friendly activity. You just need to curb that one person in your family who becomes a little bit too aggressive and competitive with club and ball in their hands. If you can’t think of who that is in your family….sorry but it is you.

So where to go to get your mini golf fix in 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½? Glad you asked!

Shanx

When is mini-golf not really MINI golf…….? When it’s SHANX!
SHANX is located at the Regency Park Community Golf Course, Little Para and recently opened at Goolwa,Ā  and it’s mini golf, like we’ve never seen! You won’t see any sharks, windmills and boulders in the middle of the greens here, it’s more like proper golf, just miniaturised. A concept that caters for the pro-golfer to the ā€˜never played before’ and everyone in between.
Bookings are essential to avoid wait times.

X Golf & Hey Caddy West Lakes

Whilst not technically ‘mini golf’ it is ‘miniature golf’in the sense that it isn’t big golf so that counts. But they do have Hey Caddy onsite which is an incredible mini golf course for all ages! We love any place you can take the kids with great food, a bar and activities gets the thumbs up from us! Catering for all ages, take the kids along for a swing along at one of the little kids courses and they will love it.

We have been a few times and always love going back. Check out more on our visit here.

P1 Entertainment 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½

Another ‘not really but close enough’ mini golf spot is P1 Entertainment in Hindmarsh.

P1’s innovative indoor golf simulator and transport yourself to the world’s most iconic golf courses. Fancy a round at Pebble Beach? Or how about taking on the historic challenges of St. Andrews? Tee off on any of 1400 courses using ultra-high-speed cameras to capture and analyse your shot data.

Copper Coast Putt Putt

Where is one of the best mini golf courses in SA? We won’t judge if you didn’t have Kadina at the top of your list but this course at the Copper Coast Tourism Centre is a beauty. We visit any time we are on Yorkes and it is a spacious, very well built course that is fabulous fun for the whole fam! Lots of great regional inspired features around the course so keep an eye out!

Check out more info from our visit here.

Holey Moley

Mini golf in the city? Inside? Yep and it’s pretty cool too, with all sorts of light up courses, fun themed holes and a bar!

Keen for a look? Check them out .

Port Broughton Tourist Park

Brand spanking new in 2020, this brilliant addition to an already awesome family friendly holiday park at the top of the Yorke Peninsula is full of characters, great fun holes and is centrally located with the new water park too. We have tested this one out and it gets the adult and kid thumbs up!

Check out more on the Pt Broughton park here.

Beachouse Mini Golf

Everyone loves The Beachouse. It’s a SA icon, they house (little Beachouse pun there) a fantastic beachside mini-golf course, that was upgraded in 2020. Full of fantastic designs, characters and some really funky holes, plus a train, like a real train you can ride on, you can make this part of your Beachouse visit or you can visit solely to play some tiny golf. The choice is yours.

Read all about the Glenelg institution here.

Naracoorte Holiday Park

Ah the Limestone Coast, what an amazing part of our state. We visited last year and found that not only does the Naracoorte Holiday Park have their own mini train track set up, but they have mini golf too! A great activity for those staying at the park, which is the perfect place to explore the Limestone (*cough wine country cough*) Coast.

Have a read on our visit to the park here.

Hahndorf Mini Golf

This is a hard one to find, being tucked away off Hahndorf Main Street but it is a really nice, quiet spot and a great way to work off your footlong German hotdog lunch by teaching the kids a mini golf lesson.

For hotdogs and mini golf fun check this out

Victor Harbor Holiday & Cabin Park

Located within a fantastic holiday park at everyone’s fave beachside road trip town, the park also includes a fab mini golf course! Create those ever lasting holiday memories by showing the kids exactly how good you are at miniature sport. We love popping down to this park and have a whole feature on it here.

Brighton Beachfront Holiday Park

Brand new to the park in late 2021 this 9 hole mini golf course is a great addition to this already fantastic holiday park. We love the nautical theme

Find out more about this park on our review post here

Victor Harbor Foreshore Mini Golf

Located right on the foreshore at Victor, smack bang next to the horse drawn tram and the causeway to Granite Island, the mini golf course is not a bad way to spend an hour on your Victor day out. Part of the kiosk/info centre, it can get breezy at times (I mean it is a mini golf course built facing the Southern Ocean) but on those nice summer days an ice cream and mini golf session is just bliss.

We love Victor with kids. Check out our Victor for Families feature here.

Barossa Bowland Mini Golf

The Barossa Valley. World famous for its wine and mini golf. Well at least for the wine but the mini golf course does seem great fun. We haven’t yet been but we will assume it is, and hope the rumours of a plate full of nuggets being brought to you with every hole in one are true. If not, then come on Barossa Mini Golf make it happen!

Check them out .

McLaren Vale Mini Golf

Part of the Mclaren Vale Natives, the big win we found here was the ability to leave the kids at mini golf whilst we went plant shopping….all in the one spot! Bliss. A really lovely course in one of SA’s best day trip locations.

For more plants and golf check them out .

West Beach Mini Golf

Definately one of 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½’s premiere mini golf spots for families, West Beach Mini Golf is an immaculate course with all sorts of funky designs and sculptures to keep everyone entertained. We go there all the time and everyone has a ball, except the kids (kidding) because we don’t let them win….ever. That is the first rule of family mini golf!

They do an epic (and super affordable) birthday party here AND for a round of mini golf you dont need a booking!

Check out more on this ripper here.

Wiz Bang Family Fun Centre

We haven’t been here a great deal either, but it does look pretty speccy! Located at St Agnes and with a cafe and small playground, we must get down and check this one out again.

For all their fun have a browse !

Glen Forest Tourist Park

Glen Forest’s 18-hole Putt Putt course is the perfect family-friendly outing, just 15 minutes from Port Lincoln. Packed with animal-themed fun and quirky features, it’s a hit with kids and adults alike.

Whether you’re planning a day out or road-tripping through the Eyre Peninsula, a stop at Glen Forest Tourist Park and Vineyard for a round of mini golf is a must!

We’ve loved exploring some of S.A’s flower fields this year. Let the kids run through fields bursting with blooms, pick their own bunches, and come home with a beautiful bouquet they created. Did you know that there are a whole handful of beautiful beaches across South Australia that you can responsibly drive on? Some of them are right here in 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½, and of course there’s options on Yorkes, in the South East and on Eyre Peninsula too. Often a 4WD is recommended, and we suggest doing a bit of research as sand conditions can change seasonally, with tides and also with increased summer traffic. Find Barton’s Forrest Ruins

Not far from the epic Ingalla Falls (these are amazing after a decent rain) is this magical place called Barton’s Forest Ruins on Hay Flat Road at Torrens Vale….which looks just like a magical slice of Narnia plucked from the books and dropped down the Fleurieu Peninsula. There isn’t any signage which makes it easy to drive straight past but we have all of the details on how to find it, just a short trip from 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ and achievable as a full day or half day trip. Highly reccommend in the cooler, wetter, greener months!

Pick and then Eat Your Own Fruit

Nothing bought from a shop will ever compare to a freshly picked strawberry, a cherry just plucked from the tree or a bite into an apple that’s just been picked.
PYO is fun and yum, and that’s a combo that’s hard to beat with kids.

Whatever your fruit of choice, find a spot to pick it here

Eat Spaghetti Ice Cream

One of our biggest posts on Instagram for 2025 was our trip to Eis Haus in Hahndorf to try spaghetti ice cream. Wondering what on earth that is…

Eat a meal at the beach!

91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ is spoilt for coastline, and nothing works up an appetite faster than salty sea air. This summer we have done the hard yards to find our favourite beachside eats for kids (and adults). There is tapas with a beach front playground, an ice cream themed playground with a nineties kiosk, fish and chips, coffee, juice acai and some stand out kids menu’s in the fold.

91¹ū¶³“«Ć½’s Best Pram Walks /adelaides-best-pram-walks/ /adelaides-best-pram-walks/#respond Wed, 19 Nov 2025 21:44:52 +0000 https://kidsinadelaide.wpengine.com/?p=17239 One of those things that you just do not understand until you’ve had kids is how excellent a well timed pram walk can be.

There’s something about that perfect ratio of smooth with a few soothing bumps and long enough to last at least one sleep cycle that will have you driving back to the same place every time you’re desperate for a bit of exercise…..or desperate to get bubs to sleep.

We’ve had A LOT of babies over the years here at KiA so we’ve put together some of our favourite spots for a pram walk.

Witton Bluff Base Trail

If flat, not too long and incredible views are on your pram walk must have’s check out the brand new Witton Base Bluff trail at Port Noarlunga. Stage one is open now and is a super gentle 30 or so minute there and back walk you can enjoy with the whole family, including the dog!

More info here

Breakout Creek

This once channelised stretch of river has been reimagined into a thriving natural habitat, with 245,000 new native plants and trees, new wetlands and habitat pools to support fish and birdlife, and over 6 km of trails for walking, running and cycling.

There are also new picnic shelters, viewing platforms and striking Kaurna artworks that celebrate and reconnect with the area’s cultural heritage.

Loop around West Lakes

The loop around picturesque West Lakes is 5.8km long. Dogs are allowed, cyclists are not. Head here for an easy flat pram walk that’s a nice distance. It takes around an hour and a half to walk, faster to jog and longer with small people when they don’t want to stay in the pram (don’t we all love that age). You’ll be walking on the waters edge so please remember your pram brakes and safety straps. Why its great..
  1. Start /finish at Inlet Reserve for easy parking, toilets and a playground. There are several playgrounds around the lake.
  2. Being a loop walk, you don’t have to double back.
  3. There are a couple of great cafes on the loop.
  4. It’s flat and smooth the entire way. The northern end has some stairs, but look for the ramp near the bridge, adjacent.
  5. Wheelchair accessible.

Semaphore to North Haven Beachwalk

Park your car at the South Semaphore carpark, right near Fort Glanville and walk north for pretty much as long as you like.
The path is long, flat and there’s just enough bump in the path for that little bit of pram rumble that puts bub straight so sleep.

Why it’s great..

  1. The path is long, straight and flat. It’s long enough for you to get bubs to sleep and keep walking until they wake up.
  2. It’s part of the Coast Park Path which begins at North Haven and ends at Sellicks Beach, this section is 7.2 km long and also boasts some awesome board walks between North Haven and Largs jetty.
  3. It’s off road the whole way, it’s a shared walking/bike path, so you don’t have to worry about cars. It’s also perfect if you have older kids on scooters or bikes who can happily roll along beside you. It’s also dog friendly.
  4. There are toilet stops along the way as well as coffee spots and shops if you need them
  5. There are at least 4 playgrounds along the way, as well as plenty of shady grassy parks if you need to stop for a while. You can also grab a post walk coffee while the kids have a post walk play.
  6. The views are great. You’ll have the fresh ocean breeze in your lungs the whole way and this stretch of beach really is pretty.

Mt Lofty Botanic Garden

Park your car at the South Semaphore carpark, right near Fort Glanville and walk north for pretty much as long as you like.
The path is long, flat and there’s just enough bump in the path for that little bit of pram rumble that puts bub straight so sleep.

Why it’s great..

  1. Plenty of trail options to suit all fitness levels, our fave is the lake loop, a short 30min flat walk around the stunning lake.
  2. The scenery is just beautiful. Quiet and tranquil, with plenty of wildlife to see.
  3. Start at the top or bottom car parks and take your time to explore the 97 hectare park. Our tip is the bottom carpark and see where the day takes you!

Rymill Park

Rymill Park is definitely one of the KiA team favourites pram walks. Located in the East End of the CBD it’s a great place for a walk in the 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ CBD.

Why it’s great..

  1. Most of the trail is sealed but the areas that aren’t are still very much pram friendly.
  2. The scenery in the park is stunning, with tree lined paths and a big lake in the middle.
  3. There are toilets, a cafe and plenty of grassed areas for the kids to run around on or for a family picnic.
  4. Rymil Park hosts one of the most accessible playgrounds in 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½, the Quentin Kenihan Accessible playground. You can read more on the playground facilities here.

Port Noarlunga South to Moana – Coast Park Trail

This walk has some of the most gorgeous views and lets be honest when you are out there pounding the pavement with a pram a nice view is definitely welcomed. Running along side the coastline this walk is about 4 kilometres one way. This walk is part of a bigger trail that is a collaboration between 6 different councils, so you can chose to extend this walk out if you are wanting a longer walk. For more info on the whole trail click here.

Why it’s great..

  1. Pram friendly paths with a stunning coastal view.
  2. The path is fairly flat, certainly towards the Port Noarlunga South end. The Moana end does have a short steeper section but its definitely doable with a pram.
  3. Plenty of toilets, playgrounds and picnic stops along the way, theres also a coffee shop or two along the esplanade if you are in need of a coffee fix.
  4. The walk has the ability to be as long or as short as you like, as you can continue further along the Coast Park Path.

Laratinga Wetlands

Laratinga is an absolute fave of our 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ Hills dwelling KiA team members….located up the freeway at Mt Barker!

Why it’s great..

  1. About half of the track is sealed, but the unsealed part is also very much pram friendly and flat. There are some boardwalks over the water which are pram friendly but not overly wide.
  2. The serenity! Stunning scenery and the sounds of nature and plenty of bird watching.
  3. Plenty of parking available so you don’t have to walk to get to the start of your walk.
  4. There’s a choice of tracks. You can walk for as long or as short as you like, with several ‘loop’ choices to pick from.
  5. For more about this magical spot in the 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ Hills, click here.

Myponga Reservoir

If you are looking for a great pram walk that is away from the hustle and bustle this walk might just be it. Myponga Reservoir is only about an hour away from 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ so still close enough that it can be done in a day trip.

Why it’s great..

  1. The trail is 5.2 kilometres but that includes the walks to the four lookouts. You can shorten the walk to 4.4 kilometres by not walking to the lookouts.
  2. The gorgeous views of the reservoir, the natural vegetation and wildlife and the views from the lookouts.
  3. There is a number of picnic tables along the way, so perfect for a day out with the family.
  4. The path is very pram friendly and away from cars. It’s also a shared path so bikes and scooters are allowed which is perfect if you have older kids.

McLaren Vale to McLaren Flat Trail

The 3.6km Flat to Vale Trail (running between Blewitt Springs, McLaren Flat and McLaren Vale Sports Ground) is a fabulous sealed 2.5m path situated between stunning vineyards and Pedlar Creek.
The $1.5m project opened in late 2022 and is a fantastic collaboration between local and federal governments, finally providing a safe off-road link for pedestrians and cyclists between the two historic towns.

Why it’s great..

  1. Nice and flat, perfect for prams, runners and cyclists
  2. It connects to the Coast to Vines Trail, including the Shiraz Trail in McLaren Vale, fabulous for exploring our world famous wine region.
  3. It connects perfectly to all the cafes, bakeries and world-class wineries
  4. Did we mention the wineries? Because come on its McLaren Vale!

Steub Trail Mt Lofty

The Steub Trail is the pram friendly (tried and tested) part of the Mt Lofty trail. It’s a 3.8km trail that gently winds its way up from Cleland Wildlife Park to Mt Lofty summit.

Why it’s great..

  1. The amazing views! This trail is all about the views of our amazing city, you get the views of the Mt Lofty walk but in a pram friendly version…. winning!
  2. The path isn’t sealed but is most definitely pram friendly. The inclines are windy and gentle so you’ll still get abit of a workout but it’s suitable for all fitness levels.
  3. There are no toilet stops during the walk, but once you reach the top of the summit there are toilets and a cafe with plenty of seating.

For more info about the trail click here

River Torrens Linear Trail

The River Torrens Linear Trail is a massive 30km long spanning from the bottom of the 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ Hills at Athelstone down to West Beach going through the middle of the 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ CBD.

Why it’s great..

  1. It’s a fairly straight flat walk with a number of bridges so there are minimal road crossings.
  2. It’s a reallllly long trail so you can determine how long you want to walk for. If you are game you can do the whole trail, if not you can join the trail at any part. The trail also runs down both sides of the river so you can easily make the trail a circuit by walking down one side and walking back up the other.
  3. With such a long trail you can be sure there’s a ton of toilet stops and coffee shops along the way. One of our favourite parts of this trail is the 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ CBD to Walkerville stint, it’s a nice flat part of the walk and there are some great coffee shops and playgrounds in Walkerville. There is also a number of picnic spots and duck feeding spots along the trail.
  4. The views on this walk are awesome, the trail is lined with Gum trees and runs directly along side the Torrens river, finishing with gorgeous beach views down at West Beach.

Roy Amer Reserve

Explore this 1.0-km loop trail near 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½, South Australia. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 12 min to complete. This trail is great for birding, hiking, and running, and it’s unlikely you’ll encounter many other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.

Why it’s great..

  1. It’s a fairly straight flat walk with a sealed path
  2. A fairly short looop, you can make it as long or short as you need by adding laps.
  3. The views. Are. Stunning!

Glenelg – Kingston Park

Another awesome coastline walk in 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ this 9 km path follows the coastline from Glenelg North to Kingston Park.

Why it’s great..

  1. This is a smooth, flat, really wide path, so there’s no need to stress about blocking the whole path with your pram.
  2. The views. Not only are there awesome coastline views there are also some really cool art scupltures along the way.
  3. TONS of places to stop for a break inlcuding the Somerton Surf Club for a coffee or one of the many places on Jetty Road Brighton.
  4.  The versatilty of this walk is great, it’s a decent length (9km) but you can also chose to start or finish at Brighton which will shorten the walk.
  5. Why not plan a stay-cation at the Brighton Beachfront Holiday Park and really enjoy this fab walk!

Noarlunga Downs Wetlands Loop Trail

Looking for a beautiful walk with beautiful views of wetlands and possibly some train sightings? The Noarlunga Downs Wetlands Loop Trail is perfect!

Why it’s great..

  1. There are 3 walks of varying lengths, so you can choose how far you want to go (I did 6.5km by doing the Wetlands Loop as well as the Wetland Trial).
  2. The views. Greenery, wetlands, boardwalks, birds. It’s beautiful!
  3. A lot of the walk is under trees giving you lots of shade along the way. You can choose different routes for the Wetlands Loop Trail, so you can choose if you want to stay shaded or get some vitamin D.
  4. There are toilets at the carpark where the loop walks start (Perry’s Bend on River Road) as well as an undercover eating area so you can start or finish your walk with much needed snacks.

Find our more about the trail

Victoria Park

Located on the east side of the city, Victoria Park is one of the largest parks part of the 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ Parklands.

Why it’s great..

  1. There are so many options here for walking trails,  including the 1.9km fitness loop which has 5 exercise equipment stations along it.
  2.  The paths here are flat and wide, making it perfect for prams.
  3. The path takes you far away from the busy main roads.
  4. Pop in for a post-walk coffee and lunch at one of our fave family friendly eats spots at The Commissary! You will find them right across the road on Fullarton Road.
  5. Park the pram and enjoy the seemingly unending beautiful grassed areas. Chuck a blanket under the pram and enjoy your coffee with all the scenery of our fantastic east end.
  6. Pretend your pram is a V8 Supercar and fly around the old Superloop track….not a particularly practical tip but sure is a fun one!

Carrickalinga Esplanade

Another one of our favourite walking trails that has amazing beach views but away from the crowds. Just to note near the end of the path it does get a bit narrow so you may decide to turn back at this point.

Why it’s great..

  1. It’s about a 2.5 walk each way (making it a 5km return) but you can join the trail anywhere, making the walk shorter if you prefer.
  2. Carrickalinga is one of the most beautiful beaches in SA. We love its clear waters and white sand.
  3. This is a shared path so bikes and dogs are also welcome.
  4. The path is sturdy and flat but unsealed so gives the right amount of bump to help put the little ones to sleep.

Onkaparinga River National Park

The Onkaparinga River National Park is located 45 minutes South of 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½. The Park has a bunch of different walks but one of our favourites for prams is the Punchbowl Lookout walk.

Why it’s great..

  1. This walk isn’t ridiculously long, 2km with a return time of 1 hour, but it is suited to all abilities including prams and wheelchairs.
  2. There is seating along the way and toilets nearby the start of the trail.
  3. When you get to the end of the walk you are rewarded with the most amazing views looking out into the Onkaparing Gorge. We LOVE a pram walk that has some awesome views.
  4. This walk can be extended out to 6kms if you begin from the Sundews carpark (where the toilets are located) instead of between gates 8 and 9 where this walk begins.

Woorabinda Bushland Reserve

Located up at Stirling, this 5.4km loop had an upgrade to its boardwalk in 2024, with it now super pram friendly and easy to get around. The boardwalk even has an overtaking lane and is equipped with ridged edges to stop prams going off the edges. How good is that!

Why it’s great…

  1. Nice and flat with stunning natural scenery
  2. Great coffee at Essence Cafe nearby
  3. 2024 built boardwalk makes it accessible for not only prams, but mobility devices too
