Yitpi Yartapuultiku, meaning ‘Soul of Port 91ý’ in Kaurna language opened in mid 2025, with visitors able to immerse themselves in Aboriginal culture and the stunning natural environment. The centre itself is open Monday to Friday 10am- 4pm and Sat to Sun 10am-2pm, with toilets located inside including a parent room. There is also a cafe located inside the centre which is closed on Mondays, however open the same opening hours as the centre mentioned above.

The playground is absolutely stunning and each play area is separated by its own path so it feels quite private when you are playing in one play space, even if there were other people at the playground.

The playground also feature little signage posts with different Kaurna language ( for example ‘brain’ is ‘mukamuka’ ) and descriptions explaining the meaning of the words.

Plenty of grassed area and all the parking you need. What a beautiful facility and playground this is. For the train lovers, the Port 91ý line runs right past, so the kids will enjoy seeing them fly along.

Playgrounds with Toilets /playgrounds-with-toilets/ /playgrounds-with-toilets/#respond Sat, 20 Sep 2025 04:34:20 +0000 /?p=197580 We’ve been listening to you, and we hear you loud and clear! There’s nothing worse than gearing up for a fun day out at the playground, only to have to pack up early because your toddler needs a toilet, or—let’s face it—you do! Frank Norton Reserve Playground, Torrensville /frank-norton-reserve-playground-torrensville/ /frank-norton-reserve-playground-torrensville/#respond Wed, 03 Sep 2025 12:02:06 +0000 /?p=182844 Find it at: Rankine Road, Torrensville

Frank Norton Reserve in Torrensville reopened in August 2025, undergoing an exciting transformation into a vibrant, family-friendly play space.

The upgraded playground features a wide range of engaging equipment, including a climbing frame, flying fox, slides, swings, in-ground trampolines, sand and water play, hammocks, spinners, and even a hamster wheel. The design is inspired by the site’s mature fig tree and will include mounded lawn areas and winding paths to encourage natural, imaginative play.

A new picnic and barbecue area with shaded seating makes it ideal for family gatherings, while irrigated turf zones provide plenty of space for games and relaxation. Wide, accessible paths will connect the playground with surrounding gardens, seating areas, and drinking fountains, making it easy for everyone to enjoy the space.

Partridge House Playground and Gardens /partridge-house-playground-gardens/ /partridge-house-playground-gardens/#respond Thu, 28 Aug 2025 11:59:45 +0000 https://kidsinadelaide.wpengine.com/?p=22560 * A renewal is currently underway at the Partridge House Playground with upgrades due to be completed by November, 2025. The renewal of the play space will involve replacing all existing play equipment with nature-based play equipment.

This is one of my favourite parks. A beautiful park/playground perfect for the kids to have a play on the playground, enjoy a run on the grass or explore the beautiful manicured gardens.

Partridge House is a beautiful old community home built in 1899 and is now used for private functions with the grounds open each day until 10pm to the public.

The playground caters for a few ages and has a swing set including baby swing, 2 slippery dips, climbing pieces and a few smaller fun pieces for toddlers.

Perfect spot for a family picnic with tables, toilets and BBQ facilities available. Whilst this park does not have shade clothes there is plenty of beautiful shady areas around the park but unfortunately not covering all the play equipment. The park is fenced off however the front gate is open for access to Partridge House Function rooms.

My suggestion if you have small children would be to park in the back street (Penzance St) which is where the playground is situated, and stay down the back end of the park.

This a popular area on weekends for weddings or private functions so just a little note to let you know that the Elk Tree area which is located towards the front of the grounds is off limits during private functions . Plenty of space so this isn’t an issue.

Such a calming and beautiful area that I highly recommend for a lovely family picnic with a gorgeous setting . They allow dogs but just be mindful if there is a private function on.

If in need of a coffee or food there are many restaurants/ coffee shops along Jetty Road appox 5 min walk away that provide take away food and drinks

Location – 38 Partridge St Glenelg with good access and parking from Penzance St

The 2022 upgrade to Naval Reserve out Port 91ý way includes some fabulous playground equipment to challenge the bigger kids. Featuring a huge tower, which is a challenge to climb, with an attached tube slide, there is also a 3-3 basketball court and some swings and equipment for the smaller kids.

There is plenty of nature play here, plus a nice big sand pit, so the kids will have a blast exploring this beautiful space. It also acts as a storm water management system with a lot of equipment hidden underground with the reserve acting as a basin to hold overflow water during heavy rains before it is released into the river.

The reserve features a war memorial, BBQ, toilets and venue for dog obedience classes. Dogs must be under effective control or on-leash but be aware if your little ones don’t love dogs.

One to look out for next time you head up to the Port.

The Square at West Beach Parks /west-beach-parks-playspace/ /west-beach-parks-playspace/#respond Tue, 15 Jul 2025 00:14:49 +0000 /?p=143112 Find it at: Hamra Avenue, West Beach

The $2.9m 2024 development at West Beach Parks is a beautiful open space, tucked in the heart of the West Beach Parks precinct on Hamra Avenue.
Developed right on the West Beach coastline, the plan includes the space being utilised for community events, recreation and play. They have also retained natural vegetation.

Set on the unique coastal precinct of West Beach Parks, it also includes a kiosk (Oceanique Kiosk), shelter, BBQ, shade, toilets and other amenities.

While there is no giant slide centerpiece here, the climbing structure is a huge drawcard taking pride of place in the middle of the play space. There is a smaller slide set on a hill, a great little selection of swings and some inground trampolines that have just the right amount of spring in them and ample opportunity to run, balance and play, just meters from the beach.

Here is what this one has to offer;

  • Rope climbing structure
  • Small slide
  • In-ground trampolines
  • Swings (including baby swing and nest swing)

Pack the kids bikes, as the new SAPOL Mock Roadway is right near by.

Designed by Studio Nine Architects, The Square at West Beach Parks re-establishes the site with natural vegetation and connects the local and broader community to the West Beach Parks precinct.

This quaint little neighbourhood playground is nestled in the quiet suburb of Leabrook and the was upgraded in 2024.

Fully fenced and whilst there is no shade provided, the playground is situated under some beautiful big old gum trees that do provide some protection from the sun. There are also a few smaller trees around the edge off the grassed area that provide small amounts of shade for those wanting a small picnic space .

This park is more suitable for toddlers.

Unfortunately no toilets or BBQ facilities are located in this park.

Thanks for City of Burnside of the images.

MJ McInerney Reserve Playground, West Croydon /mj-mcinerney-reserve-west-croydon/ /mj-mcinerney-reserve-west-croydon/#respond Thu, 24 Apr 2025 23:08:49 +0000 https://kidsinadelaide.wpengine.com/?p=38671 Find it at: Sackville St, West Croydon.

If your kids love slides, skate parks or shooting hoops……this is going to be their new favourite playground. We’re talking big slides, small slides, straight slides and one great big epic curly slide that is going to be VERY busy this weekend!

We’re calling it the best party park in the North West, and it may just make the new TOP 10 in 91ý, because it’s got LOTS of space and equipment for the whole family!

We LOVE that there are a number of different areas for different ages and interests. From multiple slides, to multiple swings, nature play elements, water play, sand play, a bunch of climbing parts and an awesome TWIN flying fox. Oh I can see the kids down there for races time after time already! There are also shelters, multiple BBQs, plenty of spots to sit and new toilets. Stage two included an epic skate park with a smaller beginners area and a heap of more complex ramps. Finally there is a huge lawn area and two brand new basketball hoops.

The MJ McInerney Reserve playground space includes:

  • Sand and water play areas
  • Slides, slides and more slides including a very cool very high very twisty one
  • Full skate park
  • Basketball
  • A twin Flying fox
  • A number of swings for all ages, including a nest swing
  • Lots of logs and stones for balancing
  • Climbing nets
  • Swing bridges
  • Merry go round
  • Toilets
  • Tennis courts
