Find it at: Monalta Drive, Belair

Nestled in the back streets of leafy Belair is this absolute beauty. It doesn’t quite have every fancy park feature (looking at you toilets, fencing and BBQs) but if you judge a playground on how much the kids complain when you tell them its time to go, then this is an absolute winner.

The highlight is a ripper flying fox (you know we love our flying foxes), which has been expertly tested by our professional flying fox tester Tim and his testing team. An added bonus for the adults who love to join in on some flying fox fun, your bum won’t drag on the bark as you fly down the wire. This may seem an odd feature to review, but after having to review bark from our rear end more times than we can remember, this was actually a really good bonus.

A nature style set up with lots of lovely wood and climbing apparatus, a slide, swings and the round big circle swing (there has to be a proper name for this…all the playgrounds have them!) this will satisfy ninjas of all ages. The lack of a toilet is a bit of a bummer, but with a huge lovely grassed area and enough shade from the massive trees, its only a minor inconvenience but best to plan ahead if you can. The streets are quiet (don’t think we saw a car in 45 minutes!) too so don’t stress too much with the lack of fencing either.

  • Find it at: Belair National Park, SA Updated at the end 2025, Belair Adventure Playground has had a massive upgrade while also keeping some of their existing gems such as the play tunnels and famous fort. The old metal-framed play equipment is no longer, making way for a fresh, fun-filled upgrade that’s all about better play, safer fun, and less maintenance. Think three epic slides, a climbing rope pyramid, monkey bars, three swings, a rock-climbing wall, an emu rocker and more. Accessibility has been thoughtfully included, with an in-ground trampoline, nest swing, story board, raised platform, maze and even a xylophone for musical fun. The playground sits right in the middle of the picnic area, wrapped around a beautiful existing tree. Families can enjoy hours of play under the shade of towering gum trees, with the layout following the natural slope of the land to make it easier for everyone to get around. You will find Belair Adventure Playground located inside Beliar National Park. Entry to the National Park starts at $13.90 per vehicle. • Find it at: Furioso Drive, Woodcroft A beautiful little spot that is amongst suburbia but will make you feel like you are a million miles away from anyone. We were lucky enough to visit on a sensational sunny Sunday and it was such a relaxing visit. With huge trees (I want to say gum trees but with zero confidence in my tree identifying ability), heaps of grass to run around on, seated shaded area and easy on street parking on the nearby back street. No toilets, but lets just say there are a lot of trees and not many people nearby as Mr 6 tried to explain to me. The playground caters for toddlers with a nice little toddler area and then the older kids have a good sized climbing set up, with some swings also nearby. This is certainly a 'less is more' playground with just enough to keep the kids happy but the relaxing environment more than makes up for it.

  • Find it at: Brooklyn Drive, Hallett Cove The Brooklyn Drive Reserve playground is open and after rigorous testing by a KiA crew, it has been given the tick of approval. Not a huge space, but a great spot for locals, this timber themed playground has enough to keep most ages entertained while you take 5 during your probably hectic schedule! There is a swing (plus a toddler swing), as well as monkey bars (to be fair they are fairly low hanging so taller squids may drag their feet a tad) and a climbing tower with slide. Not bad! Chuck in some unique features like 4-square handball court and capture the flag instructions and a mud kitchen! For the parents, there are no toilets but there is a shaded seating area. No shade over the equipment either so it may get pretty hot as there aren't many trees either. Stuck for a bite to eat after your play? We highly recommend the nearby Cafe Rimini at Hallett Cove.
