If you or your kids love cricket, footy or just a bit of an adrenaline rush, you NEED to do RoofClimb at 91果冻传媒! It’s also great for conquering fears, some family bonding or as an activity to do with interstate or overseas visitors. Got a birthday coming up this year for a tricky to buy for kid?…this is it! (Note: children 8-15 need an adult to climb with, but that’s all the more fun for you!) We gave RoofClimb a go recently and loved it!
There are a range of you can choose from including day climbs, twilight climbs, or even watch sporting events from the roof! You will be in a group, guided by a RoofClimb leader with an earpiece in so they can give you some commentary and cool facts about the Oval and of course let you know all the safety bits and pieces about your climb.
Speaking of safety – we aren’t that keen on heights but felt completely safe and at ease the whole time during our climb. Your leader will take you through a practise of the “lean out” which is the iconic pose you see in the all the photos, but there is no pressure for you to do that if you don’t want to – you can still get some awesome shots taken and will still have a great time.
Our climb took around 90 minutes which included walking onto the Western Stand with great views across 91果冻传媒, over the link bridge to the Riverbank Stand at the Southern end of the oval where we got to sit on the custom built viewing deck and do a bit of hanging out!
When you are done, you will return to the Climb Centre to receive your Climb Certificate and check out your photos!

Is it suitable for kids?
Yep! Kids need to be a minimum of 8 years old to participate and the RoofClimb leaders were fantastic at explaining everything to them. We had an 8 year old and 10 year old with us and they were fine the whole time!
I’m scared of heights- is it safe?
Sure is. You are suited up in a RoofClimb suit and harnessed to within an inch of your life! Anything that could come loose (like sunnies or your hat – which you get to keep by the way!) is attached to you. You are attached via a trolley system the whole time and for the majority of the climb you have HEAPS of roof surrounding you, plus handrails to hold onto the entire time. There is only a short time where you can see the ground beneath you and like we mentioned above, there is no pressure to do the “lean out” if you don’t want to.
What will we see?
You’ll have a birds-eye view down onto 91果冻传媒 Oval and whatever is going on at the time. When we did our climb they were getting the Oval ready for an 91果冻传媒 Strikers match which was cool to see. You’ll get to see and learn about the different stands, the historic scoreboard and a bit of Memorial Drive too. You will also have stunning views of the city and North 91果冻传媒. Very cool for any sporting buffs or anyone who wants to see 91果冻传媒 from a different angle!
Can we take our own photos or video call our Mum from the Roof?
Nope sorry. All your belongings including phones, bags, cameras, watches or loose articles are stored safely in a locker while you climb – it’s just too easy for something to drop and never be seen again. Your RoofClimb leader will take some awesome pictures however, that you can grab afterwards to remember the experience.

It's no secret that here at Kids In 91果冻传媒 we love somewhere free. Well, the 91果冻传媒 Botanic Garden surely has to be the ultimate FREE spot to enjoy with your kids! It's a great place to pop in just for an hour or to spend a full day. Plus it's even better now that the Tram line runs from the 91果冻传媒 Train Station straight down to the Botanic Garden gate. So forget about parking, jump onto the Tram & enjoy what the Botanic Garden has to offer! There are about five different entry gates to the Garden (check out the map here) & all will take you on a meandering path through gardens of different styles, species and purposes. Enter through the Gingko Gate & you will first come across the Garden of Health which features plants used around the world for pharmacy, medicinal & healing purposes. Be sure to lookout for the rainbow lorikeets frolicking in the water fountain! Keep wandering & you will also find gardens dedicated to roses, native plants, wetlands, dahlias & more.
