It’s absolutely full of the most wonderful toys made to inspire parents and children to play, learn, explore, create, and make memories together. From brands like Grimm’s , Grapat, Gluckskafer, Sarah’s Silks and many more the range is absolutely huge and all of their products are of the highest quality. These toys are the ones you’ll hand down through not just your own kids, but probably friends kids, and maybe even your kids kids. No fast toys here.

And if your kids are into pretend play, role play and make believe you must check out the category of the Oskar’s Wooden Ark website. From play kitchens and the pretend food to go in them to work benches, play shops and dolls furniture and accessories there is just so much to choose from, you really can’t go wrong.

We were lucky enough to be gifted a for my little one to try out, and almost a year later, she’s still at it all the time whipping up her magical creations and potions. Many a playdoh pie has been baked in this oven, many dozens of wooden eggs cooked up on this stovetop and she’s even got her very own sink to do the dishes afterwards.

I love the weight of this kitchen and it’s very evident that it’s made with high quality materials (sustainably sourced beech and linden wood to be exact) There’s a cooktop, oven, sink, hooks to hang your utensils from and plenty of cupboard space for your bits and pieces. Also love that it’s double sided so two people can play at the one time.

Oskar’s Wooden Ark have a great range of play kitchens from Gluckskafer and the also stock stainless steel and enamel from the same brand. You can totally deck out your kitchen with a whole range of bowls, pans, plates and utensils. We’ve been slowly adding to our collection with the cheese grater and egg beater on the list for this Christmas.

And please check out the pretend food range from . You won’t believe how many products there are and they’re the perfect addition to your play kitchen. There’s all sorts of fruit and veggies, salami, cakes, bread, sauce and even Erzimite from the Australian assortment range. So cute.

Check out the entire range of pretend play from Oskar’s Wooden Ark on their website. But make sure you’re sitting, with a coffee because it’s quite an adventure!

I received a Gluckskafer Play Kitchen free of charge from Oskar’s Wooden Ark for the purpose of this review however as for all reviews from Kids in 91¹û¶³´«Ã½ the above is honest and in my own words.

Our Favourite Toys for Toddlers from Oskar’s Wooden Ark /our-favourite-toys-for-toddlers/ /our-favourite-toys-for-toddlers/#respond Mon, 10 May 2021 05:19:08 +0000 /?p=63444 It’s no secret that toddlers LOVE toys and it’s very easy to sudden find yourself living in a house with quite literally THOUSANDS of toys that never or rarely get played with. We all talk about fast fashion, but can we take a minute to think about fast toys. The amount of plastic junk toys that end up in landfill each year is mind boggling so we’re making a concerted effort to promote quality, long lasting toys that grow with your kids and can then be handed down when they’re finished with them.

are an 91¹û¶³´«Ã½ based toy store that is quite literally bursting from the seams with toys that fit this exact description. We’ve chosen a few of our favourite toys for toddlers from their huge range and put them to the test.

MOOV Rock Climbing Ramp Slide

Attention parents of climbing kids! Firstly, we are sorry. We understand the constant fear of ‘why is it quiet? What are they climbing on now?’ and how terrifying it can be. But you also want to encourage their development and see them flourish right! Well a while back we grabbed the Moov folding Pikler triangle and little baby Jack has taken to it like a monkey to a swinging vine. A fabulously built (and insanely strong) climbing aparatus, but we felt we neeeded that little bit extra to encourage the next stage of Jack’s devleopment. Enter the Moov Rock Climbing Ramp Slide.

At 1.2m long, the extremely sturdy ramp (weighted to 100kgs..but recommended to keep it under 50kg) is built from Aussie timber and it is just a beautiful add on to our Pikler Triangle (not required of course, it can be used with a lounge or anything really) and our little tester just flies up it. We love how well made and sturdy it is, I mean when you pick it up you can feel that this is a solid piece of kit. The hand grips are just like what you would find at a proper rock climbing centre, excpet sized perfectly for little hands. It is great for their sensory develoment, feeling for and grabbing the coloured holds and it can be placed as high or low as your anxiety levels allow! Perfect!

But wait there is more! Flip it over and you have yourself a ready made slide. With no climbing holds, your little crew can climb up and slide down as often as they like. We have used this with both our little baby and a boisterous 7 year old with absolutely no issues. Perfect for indoors and out (just keep it out of the elements), we can’t wait to build onto the set as our little guy grows with it.

Way to Play Highway

A flexible, durable, easily cleaned (yes!) toy road set that can be built on any surface and pretty much go in any direction (including up furniture!)? Yes please!

Toy car tracks have been around for years, and  we have all had those hard plastic sets in our toy boxes from time to time, so it was really refreshing to try out something we hadn’t seen before. The Highway flexible toy road is perfect for all ages, with our not-so-little-anymore baby able to crawl around the track (it is so easy to put together and makes for great sensory play with your little crew) with his little cars and absorb all the shapes and bright lane markings.

The tracks are reversible, which opens up countless options for track configuration, including utilising the flexible rubber material and bending the track over whatever obstacle your kids imagination can create. We can’t wait to see our little one grow with this set, which is impeccably made and can be used with whatever other toys are in your collection already, but we also love how is adaptable for use by our 7 year old boy for his crazy car games. Suitable for indoor or outdoor use, this fabulous set is exactly what you are after. Fun, great quality, durable, great for open ended play, easy to clean and perfect for all ages!

Magnetic Tiles

If you’ve been contemplating magnetic tiles, there is so many on the market and it’s hard to know if it’s worth investing in some decent quality ones. I can assure you after giving these tiles a solid test run that it is 100% worth the investment! As soon as we opened these up you could instantly feel that there was a lot of sturdiness to the tiles. The plastic did not feel soft and thin like some others, and the other noticeable difference was the strength of the magnets inside, they were super strong!!

This particular pack includes 110 pieces and there is a huge assortment of shapes so that you can let your imagination run wild and create pretty much anything. It also includes a car base which makes for some great car races. There is also a brochure included with lot’s of great building ideas and the visuals also help the younger ones with how to create.

After going through a few of the cheaper quality ones quite often I’m very glad to have made the investment into these long lasting gems! Our four year old would often get annoyed or quickly lose interest when the magnets wouldn’t stick and with these I’m mind blown with all the different creations he is constantly coming up with and we can’t get him to put them down.

Overall I can see these tiles being a part of our everyday fun for many years to come!

Wobbel Board

If you’re after a toy that’s a little bit different. Something that will grow with your child and can be used for a huge range of play time activities the Wobbel Board is it!

What’s a Wobbel Board you ask? Well in theory there’s not much to it really……it’s a balance board BUT it’s just JUST a balance board. You can rock on it, you can balance on top of it, you can use it as a tunnel, you can lie in it, you can sit on it, you can use it as a see-saw, a dolls bed, a toy car ramp, a slide – the play opportunities really are endless! Give a kid a simple piece of equipment like this and it is amazing what they come up with.

Wobbel Boards are made from many layers of the best European beech wood and they are S-T-R-O-N-G. Can us parents play on it? YES absolutely, it’s can take weight up to 200kgs. Can babies play with it? Yes absolutely, babies will love using it to help stand up, to roll things off of it, and hide under it. Just make sure to watch little fingers and toes.

My 9 year old likes to use it as a rocker and see how fast and high she can go. She also likes to throw her ball up and down while balancing on it – so good for hand eye co-ordination.
My 2 year old loves to lie in it with her blankie and watch her favourite tv show. Better than any couch or boring old chair. She also uses it to put her “babies” to bed, as a car ramp, and a hiding spot.

There’s a great range of styles and colours available on the Oskar’s Wooden Ark website. Choose different wood types, colours and felt or no felt (felt is good for hard floors). to check out the full range and buy online

Toys that encourage imaginative and creative play are limitless in the opportunities they present for kids to not only play but learn at the same time. Whether it’s drawing with beautiful crayons, solving a puzzle, making music or stacking blocks we’ve watched our kids try out some of the toys on offer at Oskar’s Wooden Ark over the last few months and these are the toys the keep coming back to over and over again. Each time they come up with a new game or way to play and it’s incredible to watch those little brains in action. They are SO CLEVER!

Below is just a few of the educational toys we’ve been playing with. All available online from 91¹û¶³´«Ã½ based toy store If you haven’t had a look at this website, wait until the kids are in bed, make yourself a cuppa and dedicate a good 10 minutes to scroll. A beautiful collection of toys on a very easy to use website.

Kitpas Crayons

When is a crayon not a crayon? When it’s a Kitpas crayon!
We are obsessed with these stick crayons available online from Oskar’s Wooden Ark.

Unlike regular crayons, Kitpas Art Crayons can be used on any non porous surface. Paper, glass, mirrors, whiteboards, rocks, leaves, shells. They are soooo silky smooth, like satisfyingly smooth. Pretty sure there would be some sort of YouTube channel just dedicated to the satisfaction of a Kitpas crayon sliding over a piece of paper.
The colours are super vibrant and just add water to turn your crayons into watercolour paints! They are non toxic and VERY easy to clean up, I promise!

Lots of different pack sizes available. Take a look at the full range of Kitpas here

From Jennifer 0-9 Number Tracing Cards

Learning to count and write is t-r-i-c-k-y but when you can turn learning into something fun kids are far more likely to want to participate and that’s when it really starts to sink in. Oskars Wooden Ark stock a range of educational toys from the Treasures from Jennifer range, a popular brand for homeschoolers and Montessori schools. We’ve been using our Kitpas crayons to learn the number 3.

Sow & Sow Flower Press

Hands up if you had a flower press as a child….. It’s believed that pressing flowers dates right back to the 1500’s in Egypt (yep that’s an actual date). Combining science and art, but perhaps the most valuable lesson of all PATIENCE. Our kids love their flower press from Oskars and we periodically make beautiful gift cards for affordable, sustainable and meaningful creative gifting. You’ll honestly never need to buy a card again in your life. Depending on the flower, we have achieved the best results letting our flowers press for 3 weeks or more and we cant wait for the change in season to try some new blossoms and spring petals. Perfect to spark creativity and foster creative imaginations!

Magnetic Tiles

If you’re not already a magnetic tile convert then what are you waiting for?!?!
There are a lot of brands available but take it from us, when it comes to magnetic tiles, you get what you pay for. The Learn and Grow range of Magnetic Tiles available from OWA are sturdy and the magnets are strong, which means that kids can really go to town when it comes to using their imaginations to build. The cheaper ones have cheaper magnets, and trust us – this makes a BIG difference, especially for kids that like to go high and BIG.

As far as open ended toys go, they don’t get much better than magnetic tiles. Build a tower, a castle, a house for your toys, a garage for your cars all the while learning about shapes, sizes, colours and problem solving. Great for kids of all ages from about 3 years and up. My 9 year old gets just as much enjoyment out of them as my 3 year old so they’re a great “family” investment that can be handed down. There’s also some great add ons you can get to work with your base set of magnetic tiles. We love the magnetic ball run expansion pictured below – a must for master builders and budding engineers!

Grapat Nins Carla

It took precisely 3 seconds for us to invent a game to play with our Nins Carla. Actually that’s a lie, just the simple act of tipping them all out of the bag was the first game! Great for learning to count, colour matching, stacking and sorting these beatifully coloured pieces can be used for so many play situations.

My 8 and 2 year old have made up a number of little games all by themselves. One of them where all the wooden people were on a bus and they all had to sit on their matching seat (the wooden disc) and all had to have their matching seatbelt on (the wooden ring). Isn’t it amazing to just sit and watch what kids can come up with .

The Grapat Nins Carla set includes 12 Nins, 72 rings and 36 coins in 12 rainbow colours with Grapat cloth bag and gift box. Recommended for children aged 12 months+. Nins measure 6cm in height, coins and rings have a diameter of 4.7 cm.

Recommended age 18+ months

Verneuer Walker Wagon with brake

We must say, there are plenty of walkers around to help your baby transition from a cot-bound little bundle to a mobile mess creating machine, but the Verneuer walker is just top shelf. You can feel the sturdy craftsmanship, which really puts your mind at ease while your baby starts trying to push themselves along. The guide is for 10 months plus, but our baby tester Jack has been using it in various ways from about 7 months, which has included some really great memories of watching his big brother push him around while he sits inside. It is that strong a build!

We also love the brake, which we found really easy to adjust to ease or increase the tension to find that sweet spot so baby Jack could push himself around without it flying out from beneath him. This will allow it to grow with him and be enjoyed well into his toddler years, which puts the $299 price tag in perspective when you consider how many years it will be used for. Plus being handcrafted in Germany it just looks beautiful doesn’t it!

Wooden Puzzle

We can’t write about wooden toys without mentioning a good puzzle. Fine motor skills, problem solving, team work. There are so many skills to be learned getting stuck into a good puzzle. Oskar’s Wooden Ark have a range of puzzles to suit all ages and abilities. We love the range that start from just $19.95. There’s everything from animals to space, pirates to princesses. And we drool over the Grimms stacking flower puzzle below. Isn’t it gorgeous.

Marble Sound Tree

A toy that DOESN’T make a noise that makes you want to scream. THAT is the main thing I love about our Marble Sound Tree. Drop a marble from the top rung and watch it cascade down the rainbow coloured leaves while making the most relaxing and gorgeous sound. It’s something out of a day spa. This one is a favourite.

Oskars Wooden Ark /oskars-wooden-ark/ /oskars-wooden-ark/#respond Mon, 16 Nov 2020 03:18:58 +0000 /?p=57233 There’s lots of people talking about fast fashion at the moment but can we talk about fast toys as well?

I’ll definitely put my hand up and admit that I’ve bought MORE than my fair share of sh*tty toys for my kids, knowing full well that they probably won’t last a week, let alone a year and DEFINITELY not an entire childhood.

Well if you need some inspiration to buy your kids beautiful, quality, gorgeous toys that have the potential to become hand me downs through the years (remember those things……the teddy that used to be your grandpas? The wooden animal that used to belong to your Nanna?) look no further than LOCAL ADELAIDE BUSINESS

We stumbled across the Oskar’s Wooden Ark online store by chance a few weeks ago and we’re obsessed!

A few of the KiA team have been trying out some of the best sellers including the , , , the s and my personal favourite, a new teddy bear, who has instantly shot to #1 cuddle/bedtime/most special toy in my 2 year olds life. She’s called him Buddy. He comes everywhere.

Our kids have been asking for these magnetic tiles for about 3 years and when we finally got some from Oskars Wooden Ark they lost their minds! Not only did we bring home the magnetic tiles just like they have at school, but Oskar also has these amazing magnetic ball run sets that add a whole new dimension to the creating. Both our kids LOVE these sets. One enjoys creating using the regular magnetic tiles. We have space ships, teddy houses and castles galore. The other loves to create endless ball runs and is especially keen on getting two runs up at the same time so that both children can race against each other.

These are so different than the cheap ones I’ve seen elsewhere – they are much stronger so they hold together and support the marble runs many levels tall and allow a huge assortment of creations without the frustration of low magnet strength that leads to the collapse of precious towers and castles! Their bright colours and shapes make them a real hit for families of primary and pre-school kids. There are heaps of possibilities and at least a few mornings a week they are both ready for school early so they have time to make some new tile creation. For boys who usually struggle with anything creative (and quiet!) this set has been amazing and an absolute gift during isolation especially.

No. These toys are not cheap. They’re not cheap in price because they are not cheap in quality. Simon (the shop owner) told us that his range of wooden animal toys are all cut by eye, not en masse by a machine and they are lovingly hand painted so that no two are ever the same. They’re beautiful, and such a special gift.

Make yourself a cuppa and when you next get a few minutes to sit down take a look at their range online and instead of buying 10 bits of crap this year, make an investment and buy a toy that will last, be educational and best of all support a local SA small business.

The toys mentioned above we received free of charge for the purpose of this review however as for all reviews from Kids in 91¹û¶³´«Ã½ the above is honest and in our own words.
