With a very deliberate focus on feeding kids well (hello Toddler Tapas Menu), the beautifully restored venue has held on to glimpses of ‘Noonies’ from days gone by. You can now enjoy the hospitality here seven days a week from 7am right through to an evening meal or sunset cocktail, and the kids are going to LOVE it.

We are so thrilled to see what was always an iconic part of the Semaphore community redeveloped and reopen in 2025 and still going strong today! The magnificent upgraded Semaphore South playground and iconic Semaphore Steam Train (which runs on every Sunday + public holidays in October to April + daily in school holidays October to April except Tuesdays and Thursdays) are smack bang on the doorstep too. This place really does have it all going on.

This charming kiosk serves as the perfect pit stop for both kids and parents. With the sound of waves lapping nearby and the smell of fresh sea air and coffee, it’s a great place to kick off your day with some morning caffeine and a play, or an inviting spot to refuel after a day of fun and exploration.

The menu at Shelly’s Kiosk is nothing short of epic, designed with kids and families in mind. One standout option for us is the innovative ‘Toddler Tapas’, a playful selection of bite-sized goodies that are perfect for little hands. Alongside these tasty treats, you’ll find a range of all day, kid-friendly favorites, from juicy burgers and crispy fries to a cute kids lunch box option, complete with gingerbread man. Each item is crafted to appeal to young palates while keeping nutrition in mind, making it easy for parents to indulge their little ones without a second thought. If your kids are like ours, they won’t miss the ice cream freezer either.

For the adults, you’ll love the well though out menu and we loved this place is also licenced, what a nice change from the pub scene for families. You should absolutely consider this for an evening bite to eat, and can include a glass of wine or a beer etc. [Note to self, must return for a sunset cocktail.]

What makes Shelly’s Kiosk truly fantastic for families is not just its stellar menu, but also its vibrant atmosphere. With ample outdoor seating, kids can enjoy their meals while watching the nearby playground buzz with activity or the charming Semaphore Steam Train chugging along. Whether it’s a sunny day at the beach under their umbrellas or a breezy evening indoors by the shore, Shelly’s Kiosk offers a great quality dining experience that brings families together, making it a perfect destination for creating lasting memories.

Did we mention there are take away options too? Get this one on your to do list ASAP!

St. Louis /st-louis-adelaide/ /st-louis-adelaide/#respond Sat, 13 Dec 2025 00:40:43 +0000 /?p=205892 If you’re looking for a kid-friendly place to eat in 91¹û¶³´«Ã½ that feels like a treat but is easy and relaxed, choose dessert! is always a winner. It’s one of those places families keep coming back to because it’s great quality and always consistent. The kids will be excited, parents are happy, and no one feels like they’re in the wrong place with little people in tow. Whether it’s an after-school stop, a weekend outing or a casual family night out, St. Louis makes eating out with kids simple and fun.

They’ve recently introduced a new menu, including a section ‘Just for Kids’, and it’s so much more than a couple of scoops of ice cream. Hard to pick one favourite, both the Fairy Bread Brownie and the Mini Me Churros were stand outs for us. These desserts are colourful, playful and clearly designed with kids in mind, the kind of thing that feels special without being too over the top. It’s a great option for kids who love choosing something fun from the menu and for parents who appreciate a place that actually thinks about younger diners. It also doesn’t have to be a long dining experience, perfect in our opinion.

For the parents? Expect a sophisticated drinks menu (hello Biscoff Latte) and indulgent European desserts and gelato. Our favourite? The hot Classic Brookies, served to your table in a skillet. There’s also Croffles, Crepes, Churros, and light brunch options. The venues are licenced too.

You’ll find St. Louis stores right across 91¹û¶³´«Ã½ in eleven locations, so regardless of where you are, it’s going to be convenient. Find them in North 91¹û¶³´«Ã½, Glenelg, Hyde Park, Norwood, Gouger Street, Semaphore, Prospect, Elizabeth, Munno Para, Mawson Lakes and Tea Tree Plaza and also Brighton, a smaller gelato only stop. Each one has its own feel, but they all deliver the same friendly service and relaxed vibe that makes families feel welcome from the moment they walk in.

The beauty of St. Louis is that it doesn’t need to be a big occasion. It’s just as perfect for a quick cone, cup or take away coffee as it is for sitting down and taking time out. Whether you’re popping in for scoops, cones, coffee or making it a proper treat at the table with the kids, St Louis is one of those dependable 91¹û¶³´«Ã½ favourites that never disappoints. South Australian owned for the win too.

Largs Bay Kiosk /largs-bay-kiosk/ /largs-bay-kiosk/#respond Fri, 06 Dec 2024 14:31:54 +0000 /?p=154785 Hey 91¹û¶³´«Ã½, eat here with kids! Skip the cafe’s, pubs and stuffy restaurants and step back in time to relive those carefree childhood summer days at Largs Bay Kiosk. If you are any thing like us, you have often wished you could give your family some of the 80’s and 90’s childhood that we had right?

This nostalgic little gem, nestled right by the beach, has all the essentials for a perfect family meal. Crispy fish and chips that taste like they’ve been made the same way for decades, juicy burgers, classic milkshakes and of course, the iconic treat: ice cream! Whether you’re indulging in a boysenberry cone or any of your favourite flavours, there’s nothing quite like being near the beach on a warm evening with the salty breeze and the sound of waves in the background.

The food is delicious at any time of day or night, with our favourites being fish and chips, burgers, cake, coffee, milkshakes and the scoops go with out saying. It’s well priced nosh and the serving sizes are generous.

The real charm of Largs Bay Kiosk, though, is its retro vibe. It’s the kind of place where families gather, kids laugh and play and your feet can be sandy.

After your meal, take a relaxed stroll along the jetty to watch the boats drift by or, if you’re lucky, catch a glimpse of some dolphins. On our visit, we even saw kite surfers putting on an impressive show, adding to the postcard-perfect scenery.

For families with little ones, there’s a new highlight, an ice cream-themed playground right next to the kiosk. Fully fenced and designed with safety in mind, it’s the perfect place for kids to burn off energy while you enjoy a drink in the shaded outdoor seating area. Watching the kids race around while you relax? That’s what summer memories are made of.

Eat indoors on the days that the weather is against you, or sit outside on the balmy beach days. We even like to take our hot chips and sit under the jetty!

Now we all know beaches can get busy in the warmer months, so if the car park is full, try parking the other side of the sailing club and enjoy the short stroll along the path.

Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite for lunch or spending the evening with loved ones, Largs Bay Kiosk offers a charming throwback to simpler times, where good food, good company, and good vibes are all that matter. A visit here is like stepping into a summer postcard you’ll never want to leave.

Nest Kiosk, Kingston Park /nest-kiosk-kingston-park/ /nest-kiosk-kingston-park/#respond Tue, 17 Sep 2024 07:34:51 +0000 /?p=143694 This brand new 91¹û¶³´«Ã½ café, situated smack bang on the beachfront where Kingston Park meets Seacliff Beach, is going to be the most unreal place to hang out with family and friends this spring and summer. is the perfect spot for a bite to eat with kids or for that long overdue coffee, sweet treat, breakfast or lunch catch up – with a million dollar view. Meet you for a beach walk or swim?

The outlook at Nest Kiosk is stunning all year around. Bonus if it is a beautiful sunny day, however during winter you can sit snuggly indoors and watch the clouds roll in over the ocean (this any one else’s love language?) There are ample seating options with tables indoors, outside under cover and even little benches and tables directly opposite the shoreline, offering uninterrupted water views. Outdoors is also perfect if your little one doesn’t like to sit for too long, as they can run about on the beachfront path, or older kids could even play down on the sand where you can still keep an eye on them while waiting for your order.

Now, it’s a little bit hidden, but we love that, and you will find this gem of a spot located at the front southern end of Brighton Beachfront Holiday Park.

The menu offers all day breakfast including acai bowls with some great flavours (mint, anyone?)

There’s a bunch of simple and tasty kids meals. The ‘Little People Menu’ includes Scrambled Eggs On Toast ($10), Kids Pancake & Ice Cream ($10), House made Chicken Tenders & Chips ($14) and Crumbed Fish & Chips ($14). Our kids opted for the scrambled eggs and pancakes and by the end there was nothing left on their plates – always the sign of a good kids meal! (The pancakes were also some of the fluffiest, yummiest we have ever tried!)

Lunch options include meals that are perfect for a seaside meal such as Squid & Chips, Double Beef Burgers, Zucchini & Corn Fritters, a Health Kick Salad Bowl and more. Drinks include milkshakes, smoothies, cold pressed juices on tap and of course, COFFEE! No doubt it will change from time to time. Nest Kiosk is also licensed and we loved that they not only sell their own coffee beans, you can buy their own ‘Nest Wines’ by the bottle to takeaway, how cool is that?

Speaking of takeaway, they do have a takeaway menu which is perfect if you want to eat down on the beach, are staying at the caravan park next door or want to take a meal to the playground which is less that 100 metres away.

Have a meal at Nest Kiosk to fuel yourself and the kids before a walk along the coastal trail to Brighton OR pop in on the way back for a well deserved treat on your return.

Nest also open for dinner on Saturday nights and the dinner menu looks INCREDIBLE. We’ll definitely be going back for that!

Little Eatery, Glenelg /little-eatery-glenelg/ /little-eatery-glenelg/#respond Thu, 04 Aug 2022 03:52:00 +0000 /?p=58249 Playground and coffee dates have never (ever ever) looked better.

Like a good cup of Joe with a side serve of fresh air, exercise and epic playground all in one stop?

The kids are going to lose their minds over the good quality simple milkshakes and treats at this place. You are going to love the ample parking, the entertainment factor (um hello exceptionally good playground adjacent at Wigley Reserve), the room to run around, toilets on precinct and the proximity just a stones throw to watch boats come and go from the marina lock! Throw in a really lovely hospitality family who run the show here (and also up the road at the bigger West Beach Eatery) and you have an entire low cost half day outing sorted.

Its also the perfect Glenelg meeting point, minus the hustle and bustle of Jetty Road, but close enough if you also want to throw that in the mix!

We have continued to call past this top spot over the last couple of years for the consistently good coffee and banter.

The kiosk opened in late November 2020 by the talented family also behind local venues West Beach Patisserie & Eatery Fair to say these guys sure seem to know a thing or two about quality hospitality offerings.

What will you find here? Currently grinding and brewing beans from local roaster Presstwood Coffee. We’re here for it, it is very good. Some traditional milkshakes and cool drinks and a nice little selection of sweet and savory items like toasted sambos and croissants, along with cakes, muffins make up the small but adequate food selection.

There is no shortage of seating however young kids may even prefer if you throw in a picnic blanket.

The Dalrymple Hotel – Stansbury Yorke Peninsula /the-dalrymple-hotel-stansbury-yorke-peninsula/ /the-dalrymple-hotel-stansbury-yorke-peninsula/#respond Sat, 04 Sep 2021 12:14:51 +0000 /?p=67567 The Dal. You guys are going to LOVE this country pub. It’s the best we can find on the entire Yorke Peninsula and it’s surely gotta be right up there for best on ground in regional SA. Yep, I’m talking a big game, and they bring it, 7 days a week, water front views and incredibly welcoming for families with some great initiatives for kids.

The menu at ‘The Dal’ offers some pub classics (done exceptionally well) alongside some unexpected (because it is a country pub) blow your head off tasty restaurant quality options. We started with some share plates – think Pork Belly Bao, Harvey Bay Scallops + Duck Sliders and the star of our mains were a mix of plant based meals, classic pub fair and a beautiful caramelised pork belly with apple and mint salad. There is always a daily specials board and the menu changes seasonally, but features the highest quality fresh produce including South Australian Seafood and Local Oysters. They also do the regions best pizza. Show me a better one.

The kids are spoilt for choice, with decent sized servings of quality fare accompanied by salad and chips. Save room for a trendy little Sundae in a jar with topping and sprinkles. We particularly love the kids salt & pepper squid, the pizzas and the generous chicken schnitzel.

Enough about the epic food though (thanks Chef Will Glazbrook and Kitchen team)….. THE VIEWS! This is mere meters from the beach. You can eat casually out on ‘The Deck’ overlooking the beautiful Stansbury Bay, or choose the dining room (also with spectacular water views). Additionally there is also a casual beer garden at the back of the venue. Insider tip, ask for a table near the play room. It’s a lovely colourful space featuring a chalk board, wall mural, some toys and play kitchen as well as a lucky dip machine and skill tester (take a few gold bribery coins.)

The Dal offers take away, and a solid favourite of ours is their famous fish and chip cones. Grab one and take it 20m directly over to the beach front, or 150m up to the lovely grassy foreshore playground. The cones are BIG and we generally share two or three between four of us.

It’s worth noting that Stansbury is a small town (purrrrfect for family holidays and weekends), I think that’s why this pub is such a surprise packet, but on any weekend, holidays and special events, this place is busy. Make sure you book, and in advance – don’t expect a same day booking in the middle of summer holidays or a long weekend. Not today Bruce.

You’d be a fool not to include a meal here any time you are heading to Yorkes! Book it in and tell them we say hi.

Uniqorn Eats, Glenelg /uniqorn-eats/ /uniqorn-eats/#respond Mon, 07 Dec 2020 22:47:41 +0000 /?p=58305 The rainbow trend is here to stay and the team at KiA are totally here for it!

Sparked by a love of all things sweet and following the success of their first store on Grenfell Street in the CBD, owners Nick and Nakita had no choice but to open a second venue. Their flair for creating unique, picture-worthy treats meant was an immediate hit for 91¹û¶³´«Ã½ families, wowing kids and adults alike. While the city spot has since closed fear not, because the Glenelg extravaganza is alive, kicking, and serving up awesomeness that’ll sweep you off your feet. Get ready for a sugar-packed adventure!

We recently visited the Glenelg cafe (perfectly situated near the beach) and now, we understand that sugar bliss really is a genuine phenomenon and that candy actually does bring you happiness. Sure, we’ve been dreaming of cotton candy skies and gummy bears riding unicorns ever since but hey, we’re not complaining.

The interior of this cafe is off-the-charts, transporting you to another dimension from the moment you walk through it’s doors. With it’s giant blow up sweets hanging from the ceiling and the walls plastered in an explosion of bright psychedelic paint, there’s no mistaking the FUN and quirky vibe of this family-friendly space. The atmosphere is magical and brought a smile to every face that entered. Here, life really is rainbows and uniqorns!

Picture every sinfully sweet thing that has ever existed and it’s probably on the menu at . Over-the-top food creations and Instagram-worthy drinks that remarkably resemble a liquidised unicorn will leave you spoilt for choice – and possibly questioning your parenting choices as you watch your five-year-old indulge their inner glutton.

Servings are generous. Think, ‘Go Big or Go Home’ – meaning you can stick 2 or 3 spoons in a loaded sundae and easily share. It’s an edible extravaganza of rainbow goodness with popular items such as drizzled stacks of pancakes, photogenic masterpieces topped with sprinkles, and their signature rainbow cheese toasty.

Whipped cream? Check. Sour Straps, Fruit Loops, and marshmallows? Check, check and check. Talk about presentation!

At first, I was a little skeptical about ordering *actual food* served with a special uniqorn sauce but I was pleasantly surprised at the multi-coloured twist. Not only was it a feast for our eyes, but it was a whimsical, delightful experience for our tastebuds too. There’s also kids sized meals, vegan and gluten-free options that are just as fun, plus an online store to shop all the rainbow goodness. All are reasonably priced. From birthday parties to Uber Eats, Paint & Sip to Trivia nights, is there anything these guys can’t do?

Parents, while your kids procrastinate the irresistible menu – don’t forget to order yourself a candy-inspired cocktail because, let’s face it, you deserve it! While, they all sound mouth-wateringly delicious, I can’t recommend the Pine Lime Slice enough. *Insert drooling-face emoji*. And, if somehow you manage to resist temptation, you’re a stronger person than I, that’s for sure!

BEST cafe ever? Pretty much! But be warned, there is a 99% chance you will leave with an extreme case of sugar rush!
