With a very deliberate focus on feeding kids well (hello Toddler Tapas Menu), the beautifully restored venue has held on to glimpses of ‘Noonies’ from days gone by. You can now enjoy the hospitality here seven days a week from 7am right through to an evening meal or sunset cocktail, and the kids are going to LOVE it.

We are so thrilled to see what was always an iconic part of the Semaphore community redeveloped and reopen in 2025 and still going strong today! The magnificent upgraded Semaphore South playground and iconic Semaphore Steam Train (which runs on every Sunday + public holidays in October to April + daily in school holidays October to April except Tuesdays and Thursdays) are smack bang on the doorstep too. This place really does have it all going on.

This charming kiosk serves as the perfect pit stop for both kids and parents. With the sound of waves lapping nearby and the smell of fresh sea air and coffee, it’s a great place to kick off your day with some morning caffeine and a play, or an inviting spot to refuel after a day of fun and exploration.

The menu at Shelly’s Kiosk is nothing short of epic, designed with kids and families in mind. One standout option for us is the innovative ‘Toddler Tapas’, a playful selection of bite-sized goodies that are perfect for little hands. Alongside these tasty treats, you’ll find a range of all day, kid-friendly favorites, from juicy burgers and crispy fries to a cute kids lunch box option, complete with gingerbread man. Each item is crafted to appeal to young palates while keeping nutrition in mind, making it easy for parents to indulge their little ones without a second thought. If your kids are like ours, they won’t miss the ice cream freezer either.

For the adults, you’ll love the well though out menu and we loved this place is also licenced, what a nice change from the pub scene for families. You should absolutely consider this for an evening bite to eat, and can include a glass of wine or a beer etc. [Note to self, must return for a sunset cocktail.]

What makes Shelly’s Kiosk truly fantastic for families is not just its stellar menu, but also its vibrant atmosphere. With ample outdoor seating, kids can enjoy their meals while watching the nearby playground buzz with activity or the charming Semaphore Steam Train chugging along. Whether it’s a sunny day at the beach under their umbrellas or a breezy evening indoors by the shore, Shelly’s Kiosk offers a great quality dining experience that brings families together, making it a perfect destination for creating lasting memories.

Did we mention there are take away options too? Get this one on your to do list ASAP!

Grünthal Brew /grunthal-brew/ /grunthal-brew/#respond Fri, 23 Jan 2026 05:20:09 +0000 /?p=95565 Family celebrations, a meal out or a lazy Sunday drive to the hills needn’t bore your kids and have them whinging at you. Grunthal Brew is the perfect venue that has it all, and the kids are not going to want to leave. So text the friends you don’t see often enough, book the birthday lunch for your self and get up to Grunthal.

Missing the yellow cow from the main street of Hahndorf? You’ll find it here, with the cute little Udder Delights Cheese Cellar tucked into this venue, where you can also enjoy great food, craft beer, wine, gin flights and a fun kids menu that can all be enjoyed in this super high quality. family-friendly space. Think umbrellas outdoors, a creek, expansive lawn, a cubby, a slack line for the kids to balance on and just room to explore.

When its cool, there is a delightful fireplace doing a great job of keeping the space warm and cosy, surrounded by couches. The main dining area, ‘The Great Hall’, includes tables, booths, bar tables, and also offers the ‘Grünthal Greenhouse’ for private functions. When it’s sunny out, there are shady trees and umbrellas for days!

The at Grünthal is definitely a big step up from standard brewery fare! There are a great range of small plates, pizzas, and specials on offer. Udder Delights cheeses are well represented, with a delicious cheese fondue, a ‘Too Cheesy’ deep dish pizza, and even the humble toastie is made with Truffle Cheddar. The pizza is next level. The real star of the menu for the kids was the dessert (of course) – an extra special sundae topped with Persian fairy floss.

They haven’t forgotten to cater for dietary options including vegetarian, dairy free, gluten free and vegan either!

For the grown ups, there is an extensive drinks menu including tea, coffee and iced drinks, wines, three varieties of Grünthal Gin, cocktails and mocktails, and of course the extensive and delicious Grünthal beer range, including eBeer – with a new brewing technology that you’ll love hearing about.

Grünthal makes it super easy to cater for groups with a “Feed my Group”, “Feed my Party” and “Feed my Child” selection of items from the main menu.

The kids loved exploring the fantastic lawns on the bank of the Onkaparinga River. There is seating and shade on the raised terrace, and the lawns are accessible by both a ramp and stairs. We can’t think of a better place to lay down a picnic rug and enjoy a sunny afternoon watching the kids play while we had an uninterrupted adult catch up and all of the tasty things!

Before you depart, be sure to choose some gin, beer or wine to take home, and of course some of the many cheeses and trimmings on offer.

The indoor dining area is accessible with plenty of space to manoeuvre around tables and park prams. The female toilets allow enough room to leave a pram outside the cubicle door if required, and the accessible toilet is very roomy and has a full size change table, nappy disposal unit, and grab rails.

Ingenuity Baby Base seats are available to seat your little ones at the table – just another extra touch that makes this family day out so much easier.

Book it in, every one will be happy here!

St. Louis /st-louis-adelaide/ /st-louis-adelaide/#respond Sat, 13 Dec 2025 00:40:43 +0000 /?p=205892 If you’re looking for a kid-friendly place to eat in 91ý that feels like a treat but is easy and relaxed, choose dessert! is always a winner. It’s one of those places families keep coming back to because it’s great quality and always consistent. The kids will be excited, parents are happy, and no one feels like they’re in the wrong place with little people in tow. Whether it’s an after-school stop, a weekend outing or a casual family night out, St. Louis makes eating out with kids simple and fun.

They’ve recently introduced a new menu, including a section ‘Just for Kids’, and it’s so much more than a couple of scoops of ice cream. Hard to pick one favourite, both the Fairy Bread Brownie and the Mini Me Churros were stand outs for us. These desserts are colourful, playful and clearly designed with kids in mind, the kind of thing that feels special without being too over the top. It’s a great option for kids who love choosing something fun from the menu and for parents who appreciate a place that actually thinks about younger diners. It also doesn’t have to be a long dining experience, perfect in our opinion.

For the parents? Expect a sophisticated drinks menu (hello Biscoff Latte) and indulgent European desserts and gelato. Our favourite? The hot Classic Brookies, served to your table in a skillet. There’s also Croffles, Crepes, Churros, and light brunch options. The venues are licenced too.

You’ll find St. Louis stores right across 91ý in eleven locations, so regardless of where you are, it’s going to be convenient. Find them in North 91ý, Glenelg, Hyde Park, Norwood, Gouger Street, Semaphore, Prospect, Elizabeth, Munno Para, Mawson Lakes and Tea Tree Plaza and also Brighton, a smaller gelato only stop. Each one has its own feel, but they all deliver the same friendly service and relaxed vibe that makes families feel welcome from the moment they walk in.

The beauty of St. Louis is that it doesn’t need to be a big occasion. It’s just as perfect for a quick cone, cup or take away coffee as it is for sitting down and taking time out. Whether you’re popping in for scoops, cones, coffee or making it a proper treat at the table with the kids, St Louis is one of those dependable 91ý favourites that never disappoints. South Australian owned for the win too.

Family Friendly Dining at Mandarin Duck Tea Tree Plaza /family-friendly-dining-at-mandarin-duck-tea-tree-plaza/ /family-friendly-dining-at-mandarin-duck-tea-tree-plaza/#respond Tue, 04 Nov 2025 10:32:03 +0000 /?p=201985 If you’re looking for an easy and delicious family dining experience in 91ý, Mandarin Duck at Westfield Tea Tree Plaza needs to be on your radar. Conveniently located in the central dining hub (right near Hoyts), this fresh and modern Chinese restaurant has quickly become a go-to for families who love great food, comfy seating, and a stress-free meal out with the kids.

Why We Love It for Families

The location alone is a win, whether you’re grabbing a bite after doing the shops over or heading in for dinner before a movie, it fits perfectly into a family day out. And here’s the kicker… there’s a mini playground right out the front. The kids can burn off some pre-dinner energy while you finish placing your order. Parenting gold.

Inside, the booth seating makes dining feel cosy and comfortable (especially great with toddlers who like to stretch out). The staff were warm, welcoming and genuinely lovely, the kind of place where families are clearly very much encouraged to relax and enjoy their meal.

The Food

The menu has loads to choose from, and we LOVED that it is a visual menu, this really helped the kids. Whether you’re craving dumplings, noodles, classics like honey chicken, or something fresh and veggie-packed, there’s loads to select from. The kids menu was a big hit with our crew, – think honey chicken with steamed rice or fried rice with chicken, served on the cutest panda plates, complete with a pop-top juice. Simple, tasty, familiar, and honestly adorable.

For grown ups, there’s plenty to explore too – fresh flavours, generous portions, and something for every taste.

Our Verdict

Mandarin Duck is easy, delicious, kid-approved, and perfectly placed for a fun family outing. Make it part of your movie night tradition or make it your new “we can’t be bothered cooking” dinner spot… it’s one to try.

Family score: 10/10 for convenience, atmosphere and cute panda plates!

Soonta /soonta/ /soonta/#respond Tue, 26 Nov 2024 22:07:40 +0000 /?p=153880 Kids Asian Fusion fusion meal boxes are fresh, fast, tasty and healthy eating fun!

If you’re looking for a healthy, fun, and affordable meal option for the kids while you’re out and about or on the go around 91ý, Soonta is a must try. Our kids loved their fun meal boxes, including the most plain of our fussy eaters (who delighted in the very simple option of plain rice and some chicken on the side).

With almost twenty locations across 91ý, you really don’t have to go far to find one. Our favourite bight and vibrant spot for a bite to eat is in Rundle Mall Plaza.

The kids’ meal pack, priced under $10, is the perfect solution for families on the go, offering a delicious combination of fresh ingredients that are sure to keep your little ones happy and satisfied without the sugar or fat overload of other fast foods. You get the choice of a mini rice bowl with a protein, half a boiled egg and some sauce OR choose a mini fried bucket PLUS the meals come with a juice and a pack of Soonta trading cards. Big taste, mini price!

Older kids and adults love Soonta for their fresh Vietnamese noodle (bun) bowls, salad bowls, rice bowls, cold rolls, crispy sprig rolls and of course the delicious Banh Mi Rolls.

What makes Soonta stand out for us is not just the tasty food, but the way it’s made to suit the needs of busy families. Their meals are packed with nutritious options like grilled chicken, veggies, and rice, making it a guilt free choice for parents who want to make sure their kids are getting a balanced meal during their shopping trips, outings or even just for take away night at home!

We think the Rundle Mall Plaza location is ideal for families looking for a peaceful spot to refuel. It’s clean, modern, and just far enough from the hustle and bustle of Rundle Mall to give you a relaxing break while still being conveniently located for a quick stop.

Whether you’re taking a breather or needing a quick bite, Soonta offers a great solution for busy families in 91ý.

Fasta Pasta South Terrace /fasta-pasta-south-terrace/ /fasta-pasta-south-terrace/#respond Sun, 04 Aug 2024 04:27:47 +0000 /?p=143496 Taking the kids to Fasta Pasta for a quality meal has been a South Australian staple for decades, and we are going to tell you why the South Terrace restaurant in 91ý CBD is hands down the best one for families!

Everyone has a favourite dish (personally my first every Chicken Parmy was at a Fasta Pasta when I was a kid!) From the pastas to pizza, salads and schnitzels. Whatever takes your fancy, Fasta Pasta will have something to offer even the fussiest of kids. Better yet it really is hard to beat the value, with an adult lunch meal (5 choices on offer) setting you back $10.90 and kids eat free on Monday and Tuesday (with every main meal).

Outside of the kids eat free days, the kids meals at only $9.90 which include a drink and ice cream, make it a really good value outing we think. The South Terrace location offers some really unique features which are sure to make us head back again and again, including the food delivering robot! Yep you read that right, they have a robot which brings the food right to your table. Book me in. It can even talk and sing ‘Happy Birthday’. Incredible times we live in. Popular for parties and other group bookings, the robot is certainly one of those core memory moments your kids will remember forever.

Choose from indoor or atrium seating, all offering comfort and space for everyone. We love the atrium, which is fully enclosed and offers superb natural light as you watch the world go past on Pulteney Street. The kids can choose from a great range on the kids menu, which doubles as a colouring / activity sheet (we love a spot that caters to keeps the kids busy and off the devices), and there is even an option for the kids to make their own pasta dish!

For parking we found it super easy, stopping just at the top of Glen Osmond Road which is conveniently right next to Marshmallow Park playground. Better yet are the range of playgrounds on South Terrace, right across the road from the restaurant. Perfect for the kids to run off that big pasta lunch!

Great value, tasty food, friendly staff and right next to top class playgrounds. What more could you want we say!

Find Fasta Pasta  at the corner of South Terrace and Pulteney Street, 91ý.

Uraidla Hotel /uraidla-hotel/ /uraidla-hotel/#respond Sun, 12 Sep 2021 12:11:40 +0000 /?p=67893 Uraidla Hotel, simultaneously best and worst pub in Uraidla (that’s kind of the joke because it is the ONLY pub in Uraidla), but if you are only going to have one pub in a country town it better be a good one right…..? Well let us tell you…..it is. It definitely is!

Only 20 minutes from the city (how lucky are we to have this beauty right on our doorstep), this stunning location was perfect when we popped in to help celebrate a family birthday recently. I mean look at the photos, you can almost smell that clean, crisp country air can’t you!

The kids loved the spacious outdoor areas complete with outdoor games (Jenga for the win), totem tennis and a nice little playground. There’s also a footy oval a few metres away.

Food wise Mr 7 highly recommends the kids Meatball Macaroni Bake which at just $12 bucks is spot on value wise. Our older kids were left wishing they were under 12 as well so they could try the chicken bacon parmi, and the macaroni bake with cashew cheese sounds delish – and a nice option for kids who are dairy free or vegan. A nice range of options that will suit most kids.

We have been here a lot. It is just a wonderful place for a family feed or a kids-free date night, with fires out the front, back and inside, it has all the ambience you could want. Oh and don’t forget to check out the adjoining bakery, cafe, brewery and gardens. Just sensational!

Uniqorn Eats, Glenelg /uniqorn-eats/ /uniqorn-eats/#respond Mon, 07 Dec 2020 22:47:41 +0000 /?p=58305 The rainbow trend is here to stay and the team at KiA are totally here for it!

Sparked by a love of all things sweet and following the success of their first store on Grenfell Street in the CBD, owners Nick and Nakita had no choice but to open a second venue. Their flair for creating unique, picture-worthy treats meant was an immediate hit for 91ý families, wowing kids and adults alike. While the city spot has since closed fear not, because the Glenelg extravaganza is alive, kicking, and serving up awesomeness that’ll sweep you off your feet. Get ready for a sugar-packed adventure!

We recently visited the Glenelg cafe (perfectly situated near the beach) and now, we understand that sugar bliss really is a genuine phenomenon and that candy actually does bring you happiness. Sure, we’ve been dreaming of cotton candy skies and gummy bears riding unicorns ever since but hey, we’re not complaining.

The interior of this cafe is off-the-charts, transporting you to another dimension from the moment you walk through it’s doors. With it’s giant blow up sweets hanging from the ceiling and the walls plastered in an explosion of bright psychedelic paint, there’s no mistaking the FUN and quirky vibe of this family-friendly space. The atmosphere is magical and brought a smile to every face that entered. Here, life really is rainbows and uniqorns!

Picture every sinfully sweet thing that has ever existed and it’s probably on the menu at . Over-the-top food creations and Instagram-worthy drinks that remarkably resemble a liquidised unicorn will leave you spoilt for choice – and possibly questioning your parenting choices as you watch your five-year-old indulge their inner glutton.

Servings are generous. Think, ‘Go Big or Go Home’ – meaning you can stick 2 or 3 spoons in a loaded sundae and easily share. It’s an edible extravaganza of rainbow goodness with popular items such as drizzled stacks of pancakes, photogenic masterpieces topped with sprinkles, and their signature rainbow cheese toasty.

Whipped cream? Check. Sour Straps, Fruit Loops, and marshmallows? Check, check and check. Talk about presentation!

At first, I was a little skeptical about ordering *actual food* served with a special uniqorn sauce but I was pleasantly surprised at the multi-coloured twist. Not only was it a feast for our eyes, but it was a whimsical, delightful experience for our tastebuds too. There’s also kids sized meals, vegan and gluten-free options that are just as fun, plus an online store to shop all the rainbow goodness. All are reasonably priced. From birthday parties to Uber Eats, Paint & Sip to Trivia nights, is there anything these guys can’t do?

Parents, while your kids procrastinate the irresistible menu – don’t forget to order yourself a candy-inspired cocktail because, let’s face it, you deserve it! While, they all sound mouth-wateringly delicious, I can’t recommend the Pine Lime Slice enough. *Insert drooling-face emoji*. And, if somehow you manage to resist temptation, you’re a stronger person than I, that’s for sure!

BEST cafe ever? Pretty much! But be warned, there is a 99% chance you will leave with an extreme case of sugar rush!
