Bazinga is SO MUCH more than a trading card shop, read on to find out why.

For the Bazinga Arcade and store, you’ll find it located above Little Rockets Play Cafe at Munno Para. follow the signs to the staircase and as you head up, you will be greeted by some huge superhero statues and you just get the vibe you are in for a great time. Opening up to a really spacious area, the fabulous arcade just sucks you in like Dyson V12, with a great mix of modern and retro gaming to choose from as well as air hockey tables (loved the double table too!) to remind the kids who exactly is boss of the house. One thing we loved? Tokens. No swipe card for your gaming dollars or time, its an old fashioned bucket with tokens and we are here for it! Win your tickets and then pick out some sweet little prizes from the prize counter. Plenty to pick from and the kids always love walking away with a few lollies for the drive home.

As comic fans we really enjoyed the comic area, with plenty of comics to read from on comfy lounges and disappear into your comic fantasy. Love it! The retail area is broken up into 2 separate spaces, with a collectable and trading cards section merged into the arcade space, where you will find all your pop culture awesomeness to grab something really funky, or the sports memorabilia section housed in its own room. So many fantastic items to browse here and we may or may not have picked up a couple of nice NBA hats (we did…..so good!) at very competitive prices.

We love everything about this place. The owner Geoff is very passionate about the experience he puts on and it is obvious he wants his customers to enjoy the products as much as he does. It really is a case of him sharing his passions and as customers who share the same passion, it made for such a memorable and enjoyable visit.

BAZINGA CARDS, COLLECTIBLES & ARCADE AND BAROSSA NINJA – NURIOOTPA

Open on Aug 10th 2024 and located in the Barossa Co-Op Shopping Centre in Nuriootpa, this brand new indoor entertainment precinct has something for the whole family. Step inside and you’ll find:

This is HUGE. Younger kids will be able to have tons of fun in the Little Rockets Play Cafe while Mum & Dad enjoy a coffee and snack. Older kids will LOVE Barossa Ninja with a 21×5.5m, 3 lane, (17+ interchangeable events) ninja course with a warped wall. It’s for brand new ninjas through to the most experienced. The course has something for everyone for ages 6+ and a new fitness adventure for teens & adults..

Of course you will also be able to pick up all of your sports and pop culture memorabilia and merchandise from Bazinga too. While you are there, make sure you have a go on all the Arcade Games including a Giant Connect Four and VR Machines!

The cafe menu is massive and includes heaps of options including burgers, hot dogs, salads, seafood and even a whole breakfast menu!

The whole complex is such a great addition to the Barossa and we are sure many local and city families will have hours of fun there!

Did we mention the Bazinga Parties? Because in a nicely renovated private party space, in a brightly lit and decorated room you can hold your own birthday party at either the Munno Para or Barossa venue! Arcades, parties, prize shops and more. What a spot!

Barossa Valley Chocolate Company /barossa-valley-chocolate-company/ /barossa-valley-chocolate-company/#respond Sat, 01 Mar 2025 11:57:00 +0000 https://kidsinadelaide.wpengine.com/?p=40679 The Barossa Valley Chocolate Company opened just before Easter 2019, and is a must-visit when you are in the area. Don’t plan on a quick visit just to buy some amazing chocolate though, there is so much on offer here you may as well book in for lunch at Benni’s Cafe and try it all! It’s a fabulous alternative to a traditional cellar door with so many initiatives that can be used as bargaining power for the kids!

BVCC Chocolate Shop

The huge vibrant chocolate store had our kids skipping from one end of the building to the other and is heaven for lovers of fine chocolate. If you can peel your eyes away from the vast selection available, you can watch the chocolatiers hard at work through viewing windows. You can find Ruby chocolate on the shelves, a unique chocolate that was only released in Australia in late 2018, and it is definitely worth a taste.

Benni’s Cafe & Gelato Bar

Benni’s CafĆ© is the real winner for hungry families. It’s a large and accessible cafe, with both indoor and outdoor seating and a great menu sure to please all members of the family. There are dishes to share, kids’ meals, burgers, pizzas, and a great selection of biscuits and pastries – even for the GF family members.

You can view the menu online .

The drinks menu is also extensive with a range of teas, coffee, milkshakes, beers, cider and wine. Offering plenty of fun twists, like their thick shakes made with house gelato and we tried a raspberry ‘spider’ which my kids delighted in and have never considered the concept of ice cream in a fizzy drink before.

A gelato bar greets you upon entry, with all of the delicious flavours made on-site, and free tastings available.

In fine weather you may choose to sit on the deck and enjoy a view of the vineyard and the fenced off lake like water feature. There is also a grassed grassed area for the kids to run off some energy.

Sorbet, Gelati and Chocolate Tasting

The Vineyard Road label have partnered with the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company and adjacent to Benni’s CafĆ© you will find their Barossa cellar door. In addition to the wine and food menu there are a number of tasting options including wine and chocolate pairing, beer and chocolate pairing and gelato and chocolate pairing self guided flights. This is the perfect experience for the kids if the adults want to experience one of the grown-up pairings! You can all be seated together and enjoy the moment!

Allow 30 minutes. Available Daily. $18

Chocolate Workshops at BVCC

Just when you thought that it couldn’t get any better than gelato, chocolate, wine tastings and a fantastic cafĆ© – it does! The Barossa Valley Chocolate Company has a dedicated space on-site to offer chocolate making classes, children’s birthday parties, and school holiday workshops, all at competitive and affordable prices. There are also a number of options for group experiences making it the perfect place to book an outing for grown-up birthdays, a girl’s day out, office lunch, or family celebration.

DIY Rocky Road Workshop

One of our favourite things to do at Barossa Valley Chocolate Company is their Rocky Road Experience. Get your hands dirty and indulge your senses while designing and customising your own 250g slab of delicious Rocky Road using up to 5 inclusions like house-made specialty honeycomb or peanut brittle, lollies, licorice, M&Ms, Mini Marshmallows, Waffle Cone, Pretzels, Oreo Crumb and Coconut. This is a fun (and delicious) activity the whole family can enjoy.
($25pp)

Events at BVCC

Be sure to check socials or visit the events tab of the BVCC website to take a look at upcoming events, particularly during school holidays with their Easter workshops and kids school holiday chocolate workshops.

Bring your blankets, order up some dinner from Benni’s Cafe, grab some house-made gelati and chocolate, and settle in for a family friendly evening at Barossa Outdoor Cinema

Barossa Valley Chocolate Company is fully accessible and there is plenty of room in-store and in Benni’s CafĆ© for manoeuvring prams or wheelchairs, including in the bathrooms. The staff are so welcoming, knowledgeable, attentive, and know their products inside and out. Their attention to detail means you can be sure that your dietary needs are addressed. Pet dogs are welcome on the grounds which can also be accessed from outside the building. There are plenty of highchairs available and changing facilities for the little ones.

Give them a follow on socials – there is always something new happening from out door cinema events, to ever changing decedent hot chocolates in the cooler months.

Barossa Adventure Station Playground /barossa-adventure-station/ /barossa-adventure-station/#comments Fri, 06 Sep 2024 05:42:06 +0000 /?p=51209 Find it at: Washington Street, Angaston

This family friendly and highly accessible facility (toilets YES!) features a 1km mountain bike trail, zip-line, in-groundtrampolines, multi-level adventure play space including a mega tower and slide, skate ramps, bouldering wall, half-court basketball, sensory sound forest poles, outdoor fitness equipment, play deck and plenty of picnic spots.

default

It is the perfect place to spend an hour, or the whole day and its only a short walk to Angaston where you can grab a bite to eat or browse some of the beautiful shops. We absolutely loved the road trip to get there (which for us was about an hour through the hills) and then finishing up our day with a fab lunch at the award winning 40s Cafe a short walk away.

We loved the open space, the heaps of parking, toilets, shelter and railway station design of some of the equipment, a nod to the railway precinct it was built in. The 1km mountain bike track is fantastic and the basketball court and skate park (plenty of scooters there on the day we went) add some great variety to the facility…..as well as some fitness equipment which was actually quite fun to play around with for kids and adults!

The mega tower slide is such an awesome landmark and every kid loves a massive slide right? (well Mr 6 did climb the tower but the enclosed slide was a bit too dark for him to go down…but he tried!)

We do think there is probably not a lot for the toddler age group though, which doesn’t mean they won’t have fun, but the equipment is catered towards the older kids with the skate park, huge slide and others. They also have used large cinder blocks in a spot for climbing/stairs and it might be tough for the little ones to navigate and cinder blocks aren’t particularly forgiving if they fall!

Overall this is an absolutely magnificent facility for the region and being so big that there is always plenty to do!

Melba’s Chocolate Factory /melbas-chocolate-factory/ /melbas-chocolate-factory/#respond Mon, 04 Mar 2024 09:11:10 +0000 https://kidsinadelaide.wpengine.com/?p=2378 You can now experience Melba’s Chocolate Factory in two fantastic, picturesque locations – their original factory in Woodside in the 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ Hills, and now in Angaston in the beautiful Barossa Valley!

Melbas Chocolates in Woodside, 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ Hills

Melba’s Chocolate Factory is located just past the main shopping area of Woodside, about 40mins east of 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ in the 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ Hills. It is a great place to take the family on a day trip or main destination around which to plan a few hours in the Hills one day.

When we were kids I spent a LOT of time helping myself to the samples at Melba’s as my sister used to ride horses at one of the nearby properties and I had a lot of spare time to kill in the area. I was always fascinated to watch the process of making the chocolate, toffee traffic lights and other delicious goodies (the samples were an added bonus!).

The current site is known as ‘Heritage Park’ and houses Melba’s Chocolate Factory and a range of other cottage industries such as the next door Cheese Factory, so there really is something for everyone here. The factory has been transformed into a large emporium styled confectionery factory shop with its heritage equipment making delicious old fashioned treats. This is a centerpiece for 5 different rooms, where various manufacturing processes can be viewed. These are the Chocolate Room, Depositing Room, Packing Room, Panning Room & Toffee Room.

In School Holidays, Long Weekends and for special events, Melba’s bring in food trucks and kids activities such as giant games, face painting and balloon twisting, so you really can make a day of it!

Melba’s Chocolate Factory is a pretty cool destination in it’s own right and a great place to visit with the family. When you’re in the area, you should also check out a few of the other places around to make a full day outing – some of our favourites including Barrister’s Block Winery just across the road, Olive Branch cafe and playspace in Balhannah, the Balhannah Playground and Beerenberg Farm.

Find Melba’s Woodside at 22 Henry St, Woodside, South Australia.

Melba’s Chocolates in Angaston, Barossa Valley

Opening in March 2024, Melba’s newest site in Angaston in the wine region of the Barossa Valley is a must visit!

Taking up residency in the Gawler Park site, the new Angaston site boasts Melba’s already vast range of chocolate and confectionery with the addition of an extensive dessert bar offering with their delicious creamy chocolate on tap, an Ice Cream Bar with a wide range of Melba’s toppings, their famous hot chocolates, fondue, milkshakes, coffees and more. They also have a range of savoury options available.

Those familiar with the site will know the beautiful grounds and large grassed area. Melba’s have breathed new life into the space with family-friendly activities, seasonal events, and School Holiday entertainment.

Tom Foristal, Managing Director of Melba’s Chocolates and Confectionery had this to say about their exciting expansion – “Ever since I was a boy heading to the Riverland via the Barossa, I’ve loved Angaston. When the opportunity came up, I was over the moon at the prospect of Melba’s becoming part of that community, especially given the ties to our Woodside Factory. Being neighbours with Australia’s oldest family-owned winery, Yalumba, is very special too. The Gawler Park site suits us to a tee and I’m sure we will put lots of sweet smiles on faces young and old.”

Stepping into the new Angaston site, it just feels like Melba’s. All of your favourite chocolates and lollies are there, along with a homage to the chocolate making process at their Woodside factory and tributes to some of the world’s most famous chocolatiers.

The on-site dessert bar is the PERFECT drawcard for families (or bribe for any kids that have had to sit through wine tasting in the Barossa!). You can purchase scoops of ice cream (big thumbs up for local fave Golden North Ice Cream!), then choose to add flavoured topping or sweet treats made by Melba’s. Our little taste tester went for Bubblegum and Mango scoops, topped with warm milk chocolate, sour worms, gummy bears and sprinkles – any kids dream!

We took it outside to enjoy under the umbrellas at the picnic tables while we played lawn games between scoops. Couple this with a coffee or cool drink and maybe a savoury option, it would be easy to spend a whole day here. You can also BYO picnic and rugs/ chairs – Melba’s have worked hard to create a family friendly vibe and we think they have nailed it.

School holidays and long weekend/ special events at Melba’s in the Barossa will see them bring in food trucks and plenty of kids entertainment too – we can’t wait!

Find Melba’s Barossa Valley at 29 Valley Road, Angaston, South Australia.

Whistler Wines, Barossa Valley /whistler-wines-barossa-valley/ /whistler-wines-barossa-valley/#respond Sat, 15 Jul 2023 22:10:00 +0000 https://kidsinadelaide.wpengine.com/?p=40048 Looking for the perfect Barossa Valley blend of wine tasting and family fun? Nestled amidst rolling hills and lush vineyards, Whistler Wines is a hidden gem that provides both of those to family friendly perfection.

Picnic spots don’t get much better than this and it’s all available for you to order onsite. Build your own perfect platter, tailored precisely to your families taste buds. Take a look at the and choose from a range of artisan cheeses, cured meats, pĆ¢tĆ©s and condiments. We loved the obvious focus on supporting local South Australian brands and enjoyed our platter immensely. For the kids, the specially crafted kids snack pack is a total winner. For just 10 bucks they’ll get aĀ Le Snack, Sultanas, fruit bar, lollypop and a juice. It’s almost like a mini showbag, although I must admit, it didn’t stop our kids from stealing our food once they where done.

Please note: BYO picnics / food NOT permitted and while on the topic of things not to bring, on this occasion please leave your doggo’s at home due to the orphan kangaroo and other abundant wildlife.

Our favourite part of Whistler Wines is without a doubt, the stunning location. Wide open spaces, grassy goodness, and gorgeous gum trees – it’s the perfect playground for little adventurers. They definitely know how to keep kids happy! Swing set? Check! Nature play? Double check! Friendly dog named Buddy, yes, you’ll meet him too! There’s even a kids scavenger hunt and bonus….a cricket pitch with bat and wickets! I wonder how many stray balls Buddy scores himself every weekend?

Wander over to the enclosure across the dirt track and say hello to some of the very special residents at Whistler – the kangaroos! Nurtured back to health as part of a fauna rescue program, this is just another reason this place has our hearts! There’s also a beautiful little set of walks around the winery that take up to half an hour each. Perfect for adults in a group to tag team and take the kids off on a little side adventure! (Please respect the rules and stay well out of the vines.)

There are large lawn tables and chairs to set up at and plenty of stools (and heaters) on the deck. Worth noting the toilets are accessible from both outdoors and indoors. We loved that there is a clean quality change table available and room to move around – even take your pram in. This venue also has a couple of highchairs available, we chose to just throw out a picnic rug.

As for the actual wine…..for just $10 you can enjoy a guided tasting selction of five beautiful Whistler wines in the cellar door (make sure you try theĀ 2022 Divergent – S.M.G, it’s a good drop, and extremely affordable! This fee is then waived if you decide to take a bottle home, and let’s face it you probably will! The indoor space is not huge but there are 4 tasting tables that can accomodate groups of up to 6 guests on a first come, first served basis. The cellar door is exclusively for adults, however the large windows and deck area allow you to keep an eye on the kids outdoors. Why not take friends and take turns, or simply enjoy a bottle of wine and your platter outdoors like we did on this visit.

So, pack up the car, round up the fam and make you way out to Whistler Wines in the Barossa Valley. It’s a win-win situation for everyone, we love this place.

Kies Family Wines /kies-family-wines/ /kies-family-wines/#respond Tue, 27 Dec 2022 04:53:47 +0000 /?p=102862 We have been in love with Kies Family Wines up in the Barossa Valley for as long as we can remember. It was always such a beautiful stop off on a Barossa wine tour or day trip, that we could not wait to take the kids up to soak in the serenity and tuck into a fabulous meal.

Located out at Lyndoch, under an hour from the CBD, this stunning estate offers a family friendly vibe that we find really hard to come across, in what are usually adult centric venues. Our intrepid foodies, a couple of ten year olds (with an opinion on every thing), loved the lawn games (in what was a predominantly fenced area which we loved for younger kids) and the staff catered for us wonderfully with a sheltered outdoor table.

Its also worth noting, this winery is directly adjacent the new Barossa Park complex, and Kies are putting on some excellent family friendly events across the Gather Round weekend. Tickets are just $10, there is car parking on site for hundreds of visitors and even if you don’t have tickets to a game, you can come here, soak up the buzz and watch it all unfold on big screens amongst the vines. More HERE

Catching up with friends, shooting the breeze under a verandah that over looks gorgeous vines was made super easy while the kids kicked a footy around, climbed trees and enjoyed their own special kids packs for lunch. with the back drop of the barossa valley and nearby Barossa Park. We were excited to see the tip of the goal posts at the new multi million dollar Barossa Park, just across the road, from our table – imagine how electric the atmosphere will be here for Gather Round 2025?

So we have covered the speccy views but the food at the Monkey Nut Cafe was second to none. We shared a large local produce platter, ate burgers and salt and pepper squid that was honestly to die for. The kids milkshakes were an absolute standout here. Well played indeed!

The cellar door is beautiful and the staff here are beyond passionate about the family history, the wines and delivering a customer service experience like we have never received. It oozed friendly enthusiasm and I can’t believe how much our kids actually enjoyed our winery tour and the wounderful thought provoking questions they came up with.

The adjoining tea shop makes a beautiful point of difference and you simply cannot leave without a visit to pick up something fabulous.

All that can be left to say is book in a lunch and enjoy your drive through the beautiful Barossa Valley. It will be a day to remember!

Ember Pizza /ember-pizza/ /ember-pizza/#respond Fri, 26 Nov 2021 00:27:00 +0000 https://kidsinadelaide.wpengine.com/?p=40626 Ember Pizza can be found in the impressive ‘Provenance’ precinct in the heart of Nuriootpa. A lovely old Penfolds building that presents as a hub of eclectic, genuine Barossa food, beverage and tourism experiences. A must do if you are travelling with others, as there is bound to be something here that is sure to please every one, including food and a decent lawn + indoor or outdoor dining, perfet with the kids!

Arriving in the Barossa off the back of a busy Saturday morning of sport, you guessed it – we had hungry kids on our hands and Ember made the perfect first choice.

The venue, service and menu options (heavily weighted with local fare) provided us with the casual sophistication that we were chasing for our Barossa (with kids) experience. Equally it offered space, a cracking uncomplicated kids menu PLUS an activity or two to keep them occupied while the adults confirmed our weekend itineraries over a wine (of course.)

Stand outs for the kids were the Mac’n’Cheese, high quality pizza, dessert and supplied lawn games out the front. As we were two families and our kids are tween(ish) aged, we also put them on their own table along side the adults for the win.

For the adults, we came for the Pizza and it did not disappoint. Think simple, quality Italian wood oven pizza (with the cutest pots of chilli oil FTW. The whole show here is very on trend.

Picture your self here soon, alfresco dining under an umbrella, local wine in hand, with full bellied happy kids running around on the lawn.

A little bit fancy. Simple. Tasty as hell. Perfect with kids.

Thursday thru Sat 11:30am until late, Sunday until 8pm, closed Monday & Tuesdays

Whispering Wall /whispering-wall/ /whispering-wall/#respond Sat, 13 Feb 2021 13:54:40 +0000 /?p=60501 Of all of the SA reservoirs, Barossa Reservoir with its famous ‘Whispering Wall’ is surely a favourite for kids. It doesn’t involve a big walk or hike and it is THE most magical experience to have one person whisper at the end of the reservoir wall and another hear it over 140 meters away on the other end. Better than milo tins on a string, and even better than the sound pipes in the Angaston Adventure Station (which are pretty hard to beat to be honest – that place is mad good).

The Whispering Wall can be found near Williamstown in the Barossa Valley, under one hours drive from the 91¹ū¶³“«Ć½ CBD. Honestly it is worth the trip just for this stop alone. Constructed in the very early 1900’s, it is actually the retaining wall of the Barossa Resevior that will carry your voice, and yep even the quietest of whispers, all the way to the other side.

If your kids are like our kids, they will delight in the opportunity to heckle each other, sneak in a swear word or two, sing, laught, coo-ee and yell from end to end. Thankfully we had the entire wall to our selves on our recent visit.

How does it work? Apparently it is all due to the ‘parabola’ effect. Something something about the wall forming part of a perfect circle and the soundwaves bouncing off of it or jumping from one end to the other easily. It’s fascinating.

So what else is here? Nice clean toilets, an SA Water drik refill station, a large carpark, some information boards and some lovely natural bushland. There is also a free Wifi hot spot. There is also a small man made shelter shed and BBQ’s. It’s a great FREE ACTIVITY (no bookings required) activity and a MUST SEE on any Barossa with Kids itinerary.

The Whispering Wall experience is open to the public 7 days per week from 8.30am to 5pm and until 6pm during day light savings. Gates are closed on Mt Lofty fire ban days and Christmas Day, because for one day of the year turkey is more important.
